Ah, once again it is Lent, the season of inner reflaection and penance. Before I continue, I should mention that I took the backspace key off my keyboard as an experiment (no it has nothing to do with Lent, I just thought it'sd be a crazy thing to try- so prepare for typos).
My theology teacher, Bro Richard had some good advice on lent. It is a time to reflect or take an inventory of our lives and try to make changes in the way we live that would better glorify God. But he also said, and I agree, that we shouldn't try to change everything at once. Pick out one problem or one sin a d try to change that one aspect over these forty (plus sundays_) days. Why? Christ died to save your soul, in response to this "amazing grace " we should try to live life as Jesus has taught us to live.
What's up with me you ask? what...you didn't ask? then get offa my site!!
hm, ok since february 2.......uhhh. I haven't discovered the sure for senioritis yet. Govermnment ended and economics began with the 3rd quarter. I miss government, Dr. McNiff isn't too bad but so far his quizzes are mashing me into a pulp. Oh! Durrrrr! I went to Italy with chorus! here, see for yourself
San Gennaro Pics. It was a pretty awesome truip. I was a little nervous at first because none of my friends were going and most of the seniors that went were the drinking rebellious types, but I made friends with some nice juniors and a few sophs . Sorry to say but Italy (or at least the parts we saw) mke America seem so ugly! Sicily was like a giant postcard. It's amazing how you can be in cathedrals that have stood since before America existed. I have concluded that I will never be a roman catholic. To me (no offense to you catholics) it seems like too much attention is given to saints and relics and the dead in general. They had us kiss a relic (the dried blood of San Gennaro ) nd then process with it around the cathedral while singing prayer chants to every saint imaginable. Doncha get me wrong, it was amazing to sing in these old old cathedrals that were breathtakingly ornate. It seems like Italians generally like us, except that old lady in Palermo theat hurled glass bottles at us from her balcony. We got to see the pope the sday before he went to the hospital bvut only through video- he saw us we saw him through camera. We visited a monastery with real live hermit monks! Gelato is the best ice cream WEVER...I mean EVER~! The food isn't as good as everyone thinks it is though. The bread is mostly dry and hard. The pasta IS as good as we think though and they have these pretty good pizza in a wrap type things. In conclusion (to sound professional) it was nice to see the country where half of my heritage comes from.
In other enews...not e-news, you know what I'm trying to say! My 2 great aunts Julie and Eleanor passed away on teh same day :( I'll miss aunt Julie especially since she lived nearby and we d visit her a lot. Aunt Eleanor died from cancer but I only nmet her a few times (sweetest lady, seriously).
I went and did something pretty bad last week too, I asked a Lutheran to the senior rpom (shhh DON'T TEll brother Gary!). I can't say anything bad about her on here because she' might read it.
ciao ciao
Jon- you know who I am, I woudld delete that if I had my backspace key
