“Nooooooooooooooooo!”
Angel jerked forward; wrenched screaming from sleep. Gasping for breath and heart pounding, he looked around, trying to get his bearings.
OK… he was here in the attic and it was mid day, but which day? And why was Liam outside the door? And….. He paused as everything came rushing back. Liam wasn’t outside the door; he wasn’t even in the house anymore, and Angel knew it. He was on his way to… oh gods no!
Rushing to the daybed, Angel fell to his knees and retrieved his ‘rope’. He tied one end around the wardrobe and flung the other out the window, cursing the anti apparition charm Remus had put on the attic apartment. “Naaaaaathan, he screamed silently…. I’m coming!”

One flight down, four people lay flat on their backs, having been knocked to the floor in Liam’s wake.
Sirius rubbed the back of his neck and sat up slowly. “I should have known he’d try something like this.”
Remus knelt beside him, “That’s gonna hurt.”
“Already does. The girls ok?”
“They’re fine.”
Pushing his hands against the floor, Sirius attempted to stand, swayed and found himself flat on his back again.
“Just stay there.”
There was no way Sirius would ‘just stay there’. “Give me a hand up. I’m fine.”
“Did you see?” Lalena’s voice was excited and awestruck. “Liam.. he was… gorgeous.” She had never loved him more than she did right now.
“Yup… I saw.” Now on his feet, Sirius leaned against Remus. “Don’t think I’ve ever beheld anything more beautiful… but Remus, his trunk; melted shut. Why?”
“Why indeed; a good question. There is no time to discuss it just now. Sirius, will you be alright for a few minutes?”
Sirius rolled his eyes and grimaced in pain. “Will you?”
“Listen, I need to go outside for just a minute. Will be back directly. I want everyone to stay right here.”
Lalena stuck out her bottom lip, “I wanta go too.”
Remus raised his eyebrows.
“But I know where Liam is.”
“Dear,” Jessi interjected, “It isn’t night yet. You won’t be able to fly. How will you get there?”
Lalena knew Jessi was wrong. She had never tried it, yet she was certain with a little practice, she could transform at will. “I am good at apparition.”
“When did you do that?” Jessi asked in surprise, “Don’t you know how dangerous that is?”
“Listen, I need to hurry. Lalena, I want you to stay here. Do you understand?”
Lalena clenched her jaw, drew out her wand and flicked it. Nothing happened. She tried a second time. Still she stayed right there, frustrated.
“Lalena,” Remus looked sternly at her, “Apparition is impossible from this room. So would you please do as I tell you and stay here? I will be just a moment. We can talk then.”
“But Liam did it.” She pouted.
Sirius eyes became wide as he finally understood. “It wasn’t apparition was it?”
“Hush Sirius. No, it was not.”
“But what was it then?”
“What indeed, that is the question.” Remus sighed and continued, “No more discussion on that, not here and not now. This must be kept quiet for Liam’s sake. Even Angel is unaware. Now I would appreciate you watching for Angel, as he might try to leave through the house. I am about to block his other exit.”
Before anyone could say a word, he ran from the room, through the tapestry and into the back garden.

“Angel’s boy!” Cody giggled, pulling him across the room. “Sit, Angel’s boy, sit.” He pushed Nathan from the couch and onto the floor.
Still half asleep, a string of expletives shot through Nathan’s lips.
Liam pulled away, taking a few steps backwards.
“Pffffffffffft,” Cody giggled, eyes sparkling as he again neared Liam. “Nathan doesn’t bite.” He stood directly in front and hissed, “I bite.”
Liam smirked. If that snake actually thought he could provoke him, he was sadly mistaken. Liam was in full control of himself; he had a lifetime of practice. He would carry out what he came to do, emotionless.
Cody would surely know he was the one who told Remus and ruined his plans, something that definitely would have infuriated the boy. Yet no way would a pissed Slytherin have any chance against him.
Liam furrowed his forehead, trying to decide just how he wanted to kill them. Maybe he’d just sit down for a nice long visit. They might even choose the method of execution.
“Awwwwww, Poor Puff. Bad mood?” Cody grinned wickedly.
“Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer!”
Once more two bottles of beer hurtled through the air, directly at Cody, who caught them midair, setting one on the floor. “For you, Angel’s boy.” He popped open the first. “Drink.”
He held it up to Liam’s lips, twisting his hair with his other hand. “Yellow hair?” He whispered, hot breath on his ear.
Having the man who wanted to hurt Angel so close to him was a singularly horrible experience. Liam felt ill; even his skin was nauseous. If the Slytherin hadn’t been so obviously drunk and if Liam hadn’t had other plans, every bone in the hand stroking his hair would be broken.
Yet Liam knew he was much better than these two and wouldn’t do anything for their benefit. He would hold back until it was time. When the moment to exact the sweetest revenge came, he would know it. He had all the time in the world.
Cody continued tormenting Liam. The beautiful little Puff with the angelic face didn’t even fight back. This was not fun. Bringing his knuckles across Liam’s cheek he whispered. “Wanta know who the other beer is for, Little Liam?” He giggled, “Not for you. Angel’s coming by for his daily fuck. And Nathan shares. Lovely arse, that Black.” He looked Liam directly in the eyes, brought his tongue across his own lips and sighed.
An instant later, Liam grabbed Cody’s hand and flung him away with such force Cody found himself flat on the floor, covered in beer. He deserved it, yet Liam knew he shouldn’t have done that.
Flat on his back, Cody sucked his hand and giggled uncontrollably, or so everyone thought. The truth was that Cody handled alcohol quite well and hadn’t been truly drunk since his little nap with Nathan. Acting silly only diverted people’s attention from what he was really up to, and he was the master of diversion. Liam was so busy trying to deal with the obnoxious ‘drunk’ he didn’t see how closely the ‘drunk’ was watching him. Indeed very little escaped Cody.
Cody knew Liam had changed since his visit to that wonderful mansion earlier that day, and it wasn’t just the blonde hair. A new aura of power emanated from him, exuding from his very skin; something in dissonance with the world. Not only was Cody’s neck prickly, this discord made him ill.
Nathan felt none of this. He had some empathic abilities, but was ‘minor league’ compared to Cody.
This change in Liam might have given Cody pause, yet another idea intrigued him even more. Finally removing his hand from his mouth, his gaze momentarily left Liam and he glanced at his palm, verifying the pain he felt was not only imagination. The burn was severe and would need a healer; but not now.
The boy was a human torch…. interesting. The magic couldn’t be too difficult. After all, Liam was a Puff and everyone knew what they were like. A clever Slytherin such as himself could master it in his sleep. He just needed to get it out of the boy. Yet all his attempts at legilimency against the boy were fruitless. But that may be due to the fact Liam may not have any mind to read.
He craved that knowledge. No way was Liam going to get out of here without first divulging the secret. Maybe if he kept pushing, he would screw up Liam’s plans and get him to slip up. True, Liam could injure him further yet what was a bit of pain? In one month it wouldn’t matter anyway.
Hiding the burnt hand from sight, Cody held out the other to Liam, “Help me up?”
Liam raised his eyebrows.
“No?” Cody giggle, got onto his knees, crawled toward Liam and snatched the other beer from the floor. Mumbling under his breath, he shuffled along on his knees to the trunk and placed the bottle triumphantly atop it. “For Angel.”
Sitting on the floor beside the trunk, he stared into Liam’s eyes and winked. Burnt hand behind his back, he licked the fingertips of the other, and circled the top of the bottle with them. “A lovely fuck,” he mouthed.
The words barely formed his mouth, Cody’s breath hitched. Gods, what just happened? What was Liam doing to him? Those eyes… beautiful pools of deep blue black surrounded in gold…. beckoning him to come drown himself inside. Cody strained against this force, sure the boy meant to hold his head under, consuming his last breath. What kind of dark magic was he into?
“Cody, leave Liam alone and get the fuck over here.” Now fully awake, Nathan attempted to take charge of the situation. He had no idea why Liam had showed up here… uninvited, and there was no time to figure it out. Angel was on his way and Liam must be gone by the time he arrived.
Cody gulped, unable to break free of the connection with Liam. “Help,” he squeaked, “Gods help me.”
“Damn it.” Nathan rolled his eyes, quickly crawling around the trunk. “What’s the matter?” If that dweeb messed things up…. Yet the look on Cody’s face was one of sheer terror.
“Cody?”
“Nathan?” Cody’s voice broke, yet he remained in a type of trance, his eyes glued to Liam.
“Cody?”
“Naaaathan,” Cody pleaded.
What the hell was going on here? Nathan saw nothing frightening when he looked at Liam; well other than a stupid Puff. Cody’s terror was nothing more than hallucination brought about by far too much fire whiskey.
“Luv,” he crawled to Cody, sitting directly in front of him, facing him, shielding him from Liam. “Come here dearest,” he cooed, bringing Cody to him, resting his boyfriend’s face against his chest, rocking slowly. “Shhhhhhhh, it’s ok, I’m here.”
Liam closed his eyes. He breathed slowly… deeply, stilling everything around him. He was in the moment; the only one that still existed for him. He could live a lifetime in this state yet, in the world’s view, not one second would have passed. In muggle terms, Liam had stopped time.
What he had read in Cody’s eyes told him just how he would do it. Cody had unknowingly chosen the method of execution.
“Time’s up,” Liam said, attempting a hiss.
