[The PCD turns on to a smiling Sirius.]

Let's test if this is finally over, shall we?

[The image of a smiling Sirius shifts quickly to reveal a large, happy looking black dog.  The dog let's out a loud bark and it's clear to see his wagging tail before he shifts back into a boy.]

So Moony, does this mean that I'm unbanned from the kitchen now that I  ( Read more... )

[She looks slightly stunned, but delighted at the same time.]

That is a most wonderful bit of magic, Lord Black. I am glad that you have returned to your normal state.

[And she nods at his next words. After what happened before, she will not discount any such warning.]

Of course. It is most kind of you to tell everyone of such a thing.

Please don't call me "Lord Black". My name is Sirius. But thank you, I'm rather fond of my dog form too.

Thank you. I doubt we'll even be near the city tonight, but I just want to be sure that no one has the possibility of getting hurt.

As you like, Sirius. I can sympathize - I do not wish to be called 'Lady Montague'. It does not - it does not feel right.

Is it very difficult magic to change into a dog? Can you change yourself into other creatures as well?

The concern is much appreciated, in light of what has happened recently.

Well then Juliet, it doesn't seem like we have any problem then!

It's difficult magic and it took me a few years to master it. I only have the ability to turn into a dog, but I don't think I'd want to change into any other animal. Dog suits me just fine.

I just want to make sure everyone stays safe.

[She smiles, assuming his reasons are similar to her own - those names belong more rightly to the elder generation.]

Years? So magic of this sort is much like any skill - it requires practice and patience to learn, but once mastered, it seems to an observer to take no effort at all. Can you turn into any sort of dog, or only the one type? Does it require different study to change into different types of animals?

[Someone is fascinated - such things only happen in mythology stories in her world.]

A very noble sentiment, Sirius. Would that everyone shared it.

Yup, years! Any magic requires practice to master, which is one of the reasons that there are magical schools for magical children to learn at. Becoming an Animagus is a different sort of magic, something that isn't taught at school. And I can only turn into the one dog, but that's enough for me. When you become an Animagus, you change your shape into one animal and that's it.

If most people stay inside, it will just make things a lot easier for everyone tonight.

Tom mentioned magical schools as well. Are you and he from the same world, Sirius? Why is it that such magic is not taught at school? Is it meant only for adult wizards?

I cannot speak for everyone, but I can promise I will be indoors this evening. So there is one less person about whom you need worry. And I shall keep Bubbles indoors as well.

Yup, we're from the same world alright. It's very advanced magic and most students can't dream of ever accomplishing becoming Animagus while they're still at school. Few adults can even do it. There are less than ten registered Animagus in the whole world.

Thank you. I really appreciate it.

One must have great fortitude and ability in order to become such, then. It speaks well of you that you have achieved this where so many do not. Must every one who can do this register?

You are most welcome.
