ScheduleTerror of the Autons The Master arrives on Earth at a circus run by a man named Rossini and steals a dormant Nestene energy unit from a museum. He reactivates it using a radio telescope and uses his hypnotic abilities to take control of a small plastics firm run by the Farrel family, where he organises the production of deadly Auton dolls, chairs and daffodils.
Humanoid Auton dummies distribute the daffodils - designed to spray a suffocating plastic film over their victim's mouth and nose - by giving them away free to members of the public in a fake promotional campaign.
The Master plans to activate the flowers with a signal from the radio telescope, which he will then use to bring the main Nestene Consciousness to Earth. The Doctor manages to persuade the Master that the Nestenes will have no further use for him once they arrive. The two Time Lords then work together to send the Consciousness back into space.
I'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty psyched for this episode.
Well look at that, I didn't even have to wait 2 minutes for The Master!
"I'm your new assistant!" "Oh, no."
It's not every day you get to see someone eaten by an inflatable chair. And an ugly one, at that.
That doll is as terrifying as you can get while still being hilarious.
"He's an interesting adversary. I admire him in many ways." Oh, really?
"Are you trying to tell me you were going to make cocoa in my lab?"
You know the Nestine are hostile, you know that anything plastic can be made alive, and so you get really close to the moving plastic daffodil despite the Doctor's repeated warnings. Jo is not very intelligent.
OF COURSE the Doctor's looking forward to seeing the Master again.
That was great. You really can't go wrong with Autons and the Master. I'm not a fan of Jo, though. She's a little too naive. I like my companions with at least a little bit of intelligence. I do like that she's eager to get involved. But sometimes that's not a good thing.
Up next is The Mind of Evil!
