02 - Never Fully Sane

Jan 28, 2011 20:38

Even though the arrival of his best friend and his best friend's wife (okay, maybe she counted as a best friend, too) are very happy things for Sirius, it's still put him in a frame of mind that he can't seem to break away from. He'd went to see James, of course, as soon as he'd heard the news. And, of course, Lily was there, though still asleep at ( Read more... )

[A small girl in clothes too large for her, mostly just a huge mop of black hair watches Sirius in silence. She was building another snow crimson lord, but is now distracted by his broodiness. This is HER broody spot.]

He practically felt that stare, and turned to find the owner of it. He gave an annoyed, questioning little shrug, and as though reading her mind, said, "What? A man can't daydream in public anymore?"

[she opens her mouth, as if to respond sharply, then shakes her head, and says.]

"No, I... mou." [she kicks a bit of snow]

"I take it this town has hurt you as well?"

He feels a bit guilty for snapping at her, after all, she hasn't said anything rude. No crime in staring at a stranger in the park.

"No more than I've heart myself. Matter of fact, it seems like it's done me a favor. I was dead before I came here, you know? And so was my best friend."

"That seems strange. How do you know you were dead?"

"Well, I fully remember dying. But I vaguely remember my dead best friend and his wife hitting me with a cricket bat for being a shit Godfather. Of course, that might've been a delusion, but my head's still a bit sore." He's got an amused little smile at that last bit.

"I got blasted through a veil that presumably makes people dead." He gave his head a bit of a shake. "Because I ran headfirst into danger. Got myself offed with no one to look after my godson."

"I... that's unfortunate. I myself run headfirst into danger, but I've always been prepared, and powerful enough to win. I am sorry."

[she frowns, obviously unused to trying to comfort people.]

"I've done that all of my life. I usually am powerful and prepared enough, I just... got cocky. Underestimated my position and my opponent." He shakes his head. Nevermind that she sort of just insulted him, she's sort of right.

"I did that once. I had to learn a hard lesson before I beat her."

[she sighs a little]

"So what do you intend to do, now that you're here? Since you're self-aware, I have no doubt you're aware of how nasty this town is."

[she locks eyes with him. The little spitfire (4'6) is very, very blunt]
