Chocolate Cake

Just got back from the Northridge Mall where I met with a couple of people from school. Not quite friends, but not just acquaintances, they were both in my Literature and the Visual Arts class a couple of semesters ago. We’ve kept in touch since then, and one of them was in my Comics class this past semester.

We had agreed to meet at noon today (we did), and they surprised me with birthday stuff (it’s my birthday next weekend, but they decided to do something this weekend because they figured I had family plans - and I do). One of them gave me a Hello Kitty lamp thingie (which I love, Sanrio / all-things-kawaii whore that I am - why, yes, in case you were wondering, I WILL be 26 this week), and the other gave me a chocolate cake. Now, I love chocolate cakes (and chocolate in general), but it seems rather nonsensical to present someone with one just before a walk through the mall. I was admittedly touched by the gesture, but I couldn’t leave the cake in the car in 100+ degree weather. So, we did the next best thing: we took turns carrying it. 0_o
A bit ridiculous, but oh well....  ^_^

Ended up in Borders, and ran into a guy from the Comics class (he’s the one who liked my mini-comic, said nice things about it, and brought it up for discussion during class). We talked for a bit while he helped me find a book (he works at Borders). That was it. It’s weird to run into people I sort of kind of know - I don’t like it much.

It was all ok.

Glad that France beat Brazil, Portugal beat England. And that’s all I’ll say about that.
