When Remus entered their lounge, he felt a shake start in his spine.
Dora lay along the sofa, head pillowed on the armrest. Sleeping was now another thing she'd do without him.
He sighed faintly. “I’m sorry.”
“I thought seeing it'd convince me it's true.”
“And . . . ”
“I’m not shocked, only had a cry after. That's supposed to be good, isn’t it?”
“I find so, yes.”
“But I'd assumed your thing with him was simply-”
“I do love you, that’s not been a lie.”
“We’ll manage,” she whispered.
He adjusted to the dim, gazing at her hand preoccupied on her belly, and for an instant he almost believed he could agree.
