I'd often heard of studying or memorising something until you could recite it in your sleep, but I always assumed it was just an exaggeration, a figure of speech. Then yesterday morning I found myself dreaming of a stratigraphic diagram with an intrusion (aka a drawing of the different layers of soil/earth, with a small pit or something dug down and cutting through the layers) and pointing out which layers were older/newer, then quoting the Law of Superposition: provided there has been no disturbance, newer layers are superimposed over the older ones. And then I quoted the Law of Association: objects found in the same stratigraphic layer are contemporary, though this should be applied with caution because items such as heirlooms may be kept for a long time. All in my dream.
And I hadn't even touched my Archaeology notes since just before my midterm exam last Thursday morning. Wow. XD
Now to study German until I can recite the grammar rules and vocabulary in my sleep, although that will have to wait until Friday (this week is our Easter/study break). I am moving today! :D I will most likely spend tonight settling in and stuff - thankfully the room's already furnished with a bed, desk and wardrobe, so I've already bought bedding and stuff and buying a bookshelf can probably wait a few days - and then tomorrow around noon I'm off for a picnic with my uni's Queer Department. Later in the afternoon I have sword training with the SCA and then in the evening/night I'll be sitting with the SCA in a room full of sewing machines making medieval garb. :D
Also, I've only been here for a few months and already I'm having trouble packing. A lot of school and SCA stuff is dumped into extra backpacks and duffle bags because it won't fit into the luggage, and one trunk is pretty much full of books (and I still had to stuff more books into other bags). I blame the fact that every Tuesday is Market Day at uni and there are stalls selling fruit and sweets, really cool jewellery, vintage clothing, watches and watch batteries (they also do watch repair and key cutting) and TWO SECONDHAND BOOK STALLS. In addition to the school bookstore and secondhand bookstore on campus. So I've been buying a lot of cheap books (I got a book on Tutankhamun's treasure by Howard Carter for $1), and I need to stop so I can actually bring them home. >_> Plus I've had to buy a couple of Greek mythology reference/textbooks for my Classics and Ancient History unit on Greek & Roman mythology. Such a hardship, that. ;)
