So I woke up this morning, and when I looked in the bathroom mirror, I was like, "Ooh, panda... oh, wait, that's me."
More on that later, perhaps. For now:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JOANNE KATHLEEN ROWLING AND HARRY JAMES POTTER!!!
:DDD
Joanne Kathleen Rowling was born in Chipping Sodbury General Hospital on July 31st, 1966, if I recall correctly. Yes, I can tell you the name of the hospital JK Rowling was born in from memory. Yes, I can tell you the names of her parents - Peter and Anne - and sister - Di, presumably short for Dianne. Yes, I am that obsessed.
As for Harry, canon does not tell us much, so one can only presume that he was born on July 31st, 1980, in either St. Mungo's General Hospital or in a small, nondescript Muggle hospital. It depends on whether or not James and Lily were already on the run from Voldemort. Yes, I am obsessed enough to sit down and think about the details of Lily Potter's pregnancy and labour. I was there in my dreams. Eunice, if you're reading this, go ahead, call me an obsessed witch girl. Juliana, go ahead, call me a Harry Potter junkie. Why, thank you, I'm flattered you noticed. ;P
So, I propose a toast. *raises her glass*
To Harry Potter, the Boy Who Lived, and to J.K. Rowling, the woman who told us his amazing story.
Not that we can call Harry a boy anymore; he'd be 29 this year. I'm not sure when he marries Ginny, but presumably they're at least engaged by this point, although due to calculations I have figured out that young James isn't born yet. Perhaps Teddy Lupin is living with them. <3
I'd planned to type some more, about the two times I went to see Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and my sleep deprivation, but I do want this to get posted on the 31st ;P and I'm also majorly distracted by this really looooong and gorgeous T.S. Eliot poem called The Waste Land, for which Alisha (
apocryphal_muse ) sent me a link.
*continues reading The Waste Land* This is what poetry should be like. Beauty and language and vivid descriptions and meaning. After this, I just get more irritated with Carol Ann Duffy and English Lit in school. >_
