Yesterday was Liz's Grad Party and today was my cousin Jessica's. It's really just been one party after the other around here.
I helped make food for Liz's; was up at the crack of 10am helping Graduation Nazi (mom) out. A few of friends showed up and my Uncle Larry and Aunt Nancy came 'round. My Aunt Pam and Uncle Ron (Jessica's parents) came, too, along with my cousins. Liz got lots of neat stuff and some money and there was plenty of food to be had (I would know, I helped make 1/2 of it). I helped bake her cake and then I made 7 layer dip and sausage balls. And Mom and Aunt Debbie had been working on various things 2 days before I got there so for dinner we had marinated talapia and chicken. On the side we had homemade potato salad, broccoli salad, regular salad, Rosa something (can't remember the name all I know is that it was really sweet and gross), and rolls. Then because it was Uncle Larry's b-day, we celebrated that by making his fave dessert, Pavlova. So no one could leave hungry, to say the least, because there were lots of munchies, plenty of dinner options, and 2 desserts.
Then today was Jessica's party. Her Mom (Aunt Pam) did a real number on some fajita fixins. She made both chicken and shredded beef, refried beans, a mexican rice mix, a peppers-n-onions mix, tortillas and everything you can imagine for toppings from guacamole to salsa. It was really good stuff. And then for dessert she had some grocery store make a custom cake design thingy, but I don't remember the design. There was also this banana split cake that was funky, and if you liked bananas then you'd like this. I'm not a big banana fan, but I took a piece anyway just to try it and only ate a few bites. There were lots of people and even Ron and Pam's new dog Kirby joined in the party. He was a real cutie, totally irresistible. Jessica got Guitar Hero 2 as a gift from some one and brought it over and set it up in one of the bedrooms, so Claire and I spent much of our time doing that (Claire had never played before!). Blake (Jess's boyfriend) came in and played a few rounds as well. I still suck as ever, but I like to play for fun even still.
Afterwards, Larry, Nancy and the rest of my crew came back to the house and sat out in the back for a bit. Before Ron and Pam could show up, us kiddles went out to Barnes and Noble. We spent about an hour there just looking around and wandering quite aimlessly. By the time we got back, everyone was here and we went to go join in the conversation in the back.
Side-story: When I came back from B&N, I went to the bathroom and Sophie was in there just chillin' it on the cool tile. She wouldn't budge so I let her stay which was a bad decision in the end. The ENTIRE TIME I was peeing she stared at me. It was very unnerving. Do you know what it's like to have an animal stare at you while doin' your business?!?
Tomorrow I leave and don't get back 'til late. *sadness* I've rather enjoyed my time here. Oh well, I'll be back for Christmas.
