Crazy Cool Chemistry Class
i have decided that everyone should skip their thursday classes on the first week of april and come up here and then go to mu chemistry class at 10:00 on friday. i have discovered that every friday, my professor brings in some chemicals and makes them react with eachother!
today, he brought in a ventilation hood and filled a dish with zinc chunks and iodine chunks. then he added water and the dish burst into huge plumes of bright fuscia smoke! it was so awesome!!! oh my gosh. then, he wanted to demonstrate how a magnesium strip burns. he said "ya know, i could probably light this with a match...but i think a blow torch is more fun." then he pulled out a blow torch, tuned off the lights, and lit the little metal strip on fire. it was EXTREMELY bright and he told us not to look directly at it because it could damage our eyes. well, before he lit it he said "ok now the trick is lighting this little strip on fire without looking at it." after it was burning for a while, it fell on the carpet and burned a hole in it and he said "we'll just put the table over that"
ok so anyway, i wrote another paper today. it is a lot shorter than the other one that i wrote but i dont care. whatevaaa!
we all went to the movies today to see "when a stranger calls." i think we got into the same showing as a Small Girl Convention field trip because it was PACKED with like 12 year old girls and some boys. they kept talking to me and asking me if stuff was funny. actually, i dont know why but i thought the movie was kind of hilarious. like i seriously started laughing when she was crawling up the stairs and the guy kept pulling her down. and bless her heart, she just kept trying to go up the stairs and he just kept trying to pull her down for like five minutes
