Cheat Sheet: SK Provinces
This is to help myself. :) A list of all the provinces of South Korea and Metropolitan Cities that I can be placed at if I get that teaching job in Korea along with little facts about them. -crosses fingers- I'm hoping to submit everything in by tomorrow night so I need to get to it. ^^;
BUSAN
second largest city
Climate*: humid-subtropical (31F to 81F); rainy season from June to August (~10 inches max); humidity 66.2%
Entertainment: lots of shopping, famous fish market, 24 colleges/uni (especially Pusan National U, Pukyong National U, and Kyungsung U), 6 beaches, hiking at Geumjeongsan, Taejongdae Park, 21 shrines/temples/historical sites, Pusan International Film Festival (PIFF), 10 museums
Cuisine: wheat noodles, dwaeji gukbap (pork rice soup), dongnae pajeon
Transportation: total of 134 bus routes with major ones connecting to other cities, ferries take you to Geoje and Jeju Islands as well as to Japan (Tsushima Island, Osaka, Shimonoseki, Fukuoka), subway system has 3 lines, rail line connects with major cities, Gimhae International Airport located in western Busan
Interesting Fact(s): home to the world's largest department store, has lots of skyscrapers, has "Texas Street" (hahaha) that caters to foreigners (substantial Russian population) and used to be a Chinatown, an old center of military affairs
INCHEON
third largest city
Climate: between humid-subtropical and humid-continental with mainly average compared to other regions (21F - 84F), rainy season in July and August (~11.4 inches max)
Entertainment: 10 universities/colleges, Wolmi Island, Jayu Park, Goryeo and Yongheung Palace, 4 museums, 1 Buddhist temple, Ganghwa Market, SK's only official Chinatown, 1 beach, Songdo Amusement Park, Saltwater Bath Street (Yeonan Pier), Ganghwado Island, Sudeoksa templestay, Wolmido Raw Fish Market
Cuisine: N/A
Transportation: Incheon International Airport (largest in SK) and Yeonan Pier

DAEGU
fourth largest city
Climate: humid-subtropical (25F - 88F;yearly average is 56F), little rain except for summer months
Entertainment: Jungang and Daeshin Underground Arcades, Seomun Market, Yakjeon Herbal Medicine Market, Daegu Fashion Fair, Gatbawi the Buddha Statue, many reknowned temples and old villages, various cathedrals, at least 32 parks, Dongseongro downtown, Daegu International Opera/Musical/Bodypainting Festivals as well as other art-related ones, 7 museums, 4 theatres, lots of schools, Mount Palgongsan
Cuisine: Everything, because it's a city like that; beefy dishes (ttaro-gukbap [rice + beef soup separate, gomtang [oxtail soup], jjim-galbi), catfish stew, steamed carp, chueotang loach soup, cheondubu and sundubu bean curd

DAEJEON
fifth largest city
Climate: (21F - 86F, average yearly temperature is ~54F); maximum rainfall tops at ~11 inches, humidity at 71.3%

Transportation: at the crossroads of 2 railways and 2 expressways (highways/freeways)
Interesting Fact(s): 2nd highest population growth after Seoul, lots of research and development
GWANGJU
sixth largest city
Climate: 26F - 86F with yearly average of 56F; average humidity at around 72%
Entertainment: Gwangju Biennale, National Cemetery, National Museum, Gwangju Hyanggyo (Confucian school), Street of Art (downtown), Gwangju Kimchi Festival, Gwangju Youth Music Festival, Jisan Amusement Park, Kumho World
Cuisine: Gwangju tteokgalbi (grilled meat patty aka Gwangju's burger patty) and street food that I can't find because the bloody site won't work for me. -__-
Interesting Fact(s): seen as the vanguard of SK's democracy (Gwangju massacre; similar to Tiananmen massacre), home to the largest night club in Korea, dialect is hard for other Koreans to understand
ULSAN
seventh largest city
Climate: 27F - 86F with an average humidity of around 67%
Entertainment: Mugeodong (student life), 3 main beaches, Daewangam Rock, Pine Forest, Samsandong (up-market district), Seongnamdong (old downtown, shopping at low prices, some foreigner friendly places), Gangelgot (lighthouse), Sinbusan, Mujechi Swamp, Ulsan Whale Festival
Cuisine: seafood and tender marinated beef again
Transportation: no metro system, but extensive bus system
Interesting Fact(s): industrial powerhouse of SK
CHUNGNAM
Climate: refer to Daejeon
Entertainment: Mount Gyeryong
Cuisine: refer to Daejeon again
Interesting Fact(s): SK's fastest growing region and wealthiest province, province capital is Daejeon; Jaejoong from DBSK and Yesung from SuJu are from here ♥
CHUNGBUK
Climate: similar to other regions but may have more intense winters
Entertainment: Mount Songni, Mount Worak, Beopjusa Temple, Geumsang and Yuseong Markets
Cuisine: uh... fruits? -blink- Probably add seafood and beef to that too... except it's landlocked. Lets change that to beef only... and seafood at number 2.
Interesting Fact(s): the only landlocked province, very mountainous; among other agricultural products, it specialises in tobacco
GANGWON
Climate: monsoon climate with cold and dry winters and hot and humid summers though probably not as hot as Texas
Entertainment: Mount Odae and Seoraksan (ski), Hwanseongul (SK's largest limestone cave), Gyeongpo beach, International Mime Festival, Donghae Squid Festival, Wonju Tattoo, Taebaek Snow Festival, Icefish Festival, Korean Beef Festival, 10 caves, 41 village resorts, 6 parks, 95 climbing courses, 74 swimming beaches
Cuisine: known for sundubu (soft tofu made from sea water); lets add "beef" as well, usually made of "common ingredients" like potato and acorn; buckwheat noodles, squid

GYEONGSANGBUK
Climate: perhaps the hottest province; 26F - 87F
Entertainment: 25 museums, 4 art galleries, 58 movie theatres (I hope they're not all in Daegu), 15 parks, 54 hot spas, various festivals in the area, Andong Market
Cuisine: Andong jjimdak (Andong-style braised chicken)

Climate:more temperature extremes around the mountains and more moderate near the sea
