My new recipe blog.

I decided that since I rarely ever have any real life info to post about here that I'm converting my LJ over to a recipe blog. I'll be posting about all the cool recipes I find and or make and then posting said recipes for others to try. Sound cool? Yeah, I thought so too. So let's start with the first recipe:

Pre-frosting for marbly effect:

Post-frosting with my horrible attempt at decoration:

The recipe I used I found while using StumbleUpon and stumbled upon http://www.dianaskitchen.com/page/recipes03/0814_choc_cake.htm

Marble Cake
Chocolate is swirled into the vanilla batter to make this marble cake. Frost with chocolate frosting.

* 1 ounce unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
* 1 3/4 cup sifted cake flour
* 2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
* 3/4 teaspoon salt
* 1/3 cup vegetable oil
* 3/4 cup milk
* 1 teaspoon vanilla
* 1 egg
* 1 cup sugar

Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir in oil, milk and vanilla and beat until batter is very smooth. In another bowl, beat the eggs until thick and foamy. Gradually add sugar and continue beating until well blended. Fold egg and sugar mixture thoroughly into batter. Drizzle chocolate over the batter then cut through batter several times to give a marbled appearance. Pour into a greased and floured 13x9x2-inch baking pan. Bake at 325° for 35 to 45 minutes. Cool then frost.

Chocolate Buttercream Frosting
INGREDIENTS:

* 2 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
* 3 tablespoons cocoa
* 1/4 cup butter
* 2 tablespoons heavy cream
* vanilla

PREPARATION:
In a mixing bowl, cream confectioners' sugar, cocoa, and butter. Beat in heavy cream and vanilla. Add small amounts hot water or hot black coffee until desired spreading consistency is reached.

Try it, I think you just might like it, I did!
