"Chroma Lux" was a great way to let go. Let go in a way that is almost like a nuclear blast. It left me asking for a year the question of "Where do I go from here?" "Mirrors" started like that, trying to go towards outrageous colors and heavy alterations, but working with the camera's input data alone. Right now, if feels like I hit a few walls regarding where to take if from now. So, what I do is pretty much leave a series for a while, work on new ideas for some other series of photos, and then go back to the original one. I went from Noir photography concepts, merging with a few other ideas, and when I noticed, I was doing very different from where I started.
All that matters, is that you explore your full capacity, and turn your potential into energy to create. And let go of rules. One of the most harmful rules I was pushed into on art school is that you don't do work without a reference. After a while you get so stuck studying references, that you either feel all is done, or you feel that you can't do something that completely escapes from those.
I know you'll work your way out. Just let it come to you :)
