Emerging from "The Black"

Digital, film, since I started in photography in the digital age, and only then moved into film, I feel digital to be more freeing. In the end, it cuts down development time and costs, and give you better control. Which sometimes is undesirable, because you often loose the happy accidents. But they still do happen if you let yourself.

"Mirrors" started like that, trying to go towards outrageous colors and heavy alterations, but working with the camera's input data alone. Right now, if feels like I hit a few walls regarding where to take if from now. So, what I do is pretty much leave a series for a while, work on new ideas for some other series of photos, and then go back to the original one. I went from Noir photography concepts, merging with a few other ideas, and when I noticed, I was doing very different from where I started.

All that matters, is that you explore your full capacity, and turn your potential into energy to create. And let go of rules. One of the most harmful rules I was pushed into on art school is that you don't do work without a reference. After a while you get so stuck studying references, that you either feel all is done, or you feel that you can't do something that completely escapes from those.

I know you'll work your way out. Just let it come to you :)
