pumpkin carving competition and sleepover!

Oct 25, 2011 16:30

So the community center is going to be hosting a pumpkin carving party/sleepover on the 30th to the 31st (not the 29th-30th like I originally wrote down, oops, because I made a mistake about when the Lux's masquerade was going to be, gj self).

The morning and afternoon of the 30th is going to be spent in a pumpkin-carving workshop of sorts-- mostly for people who've never done it before (Yako included) to get a feel for it. There will be food and drinks (Halloween-themed, of course) and pumpkins provided. Generally, an atmosphere of family-friendly fun.

At this point, people can choose to go home before sirens (pumpkin in tow!) or they can stay the night: 6PM onwards of the 30th is going to be spent with lighting the pumpkins up (indoors, of course) while projecting classic horror movies, playing silly games, and telling ghost stories just before everyone goes to bed. Telling ghost stories will be kind of a game itself, until everyone's left in complete darkness. People are encouraged to bring their own food if they can.

And then what happens? Well, not very much (unless anyone wants to offer up summoned spirit shenanigans, which I'm totally up for).

On the day of the 31st the lit pumpkins will be on display in the NCC (whose main hall will have the windows blocked out to simulate night-time). People can come and take a look at the pumpkins that have been put up, vote for their favorites, and get treats (if they're in costume).

By evening sirens on the 31st, Yako (who'll be a witch) will be sending the pumpkins dancing around on the streets and flying around on a broomstick, tossing casual hexes along as she goes! If you wanted your character turned into a frog or a slug or something equally silly (temporarily, of course) let me know!
