He shut the door behind Jubilee as she came in, locking it up as tightly as he could, then leaning against it like that would prevent any intruders. The foolishness of what he'd done struck him and he moved away from the door.
"The... skinny?" Isshin was confused. He looked at her, then he shook his head. "Jubilee-san, you seem to be in perfect physical condition! Why are you asking me for diet pills? They can be quite dangerous, you know. And you don't need them." Why would she be asking him about something like that?
"I thought you came here to talk about Aizen?" Really, he was surprised at just how perky she was, considering the warning he'd given her. Wait. Isshin did a double take, staring at her. "Did he show you his zan - his katana??"

Then she facepalmed. "The skinny means the news, the information, ya know?" She sighed and shook her head. How could he not know something like that? It was totally weird.
"I did come here to talk about Aizen." She confirmed, watching him, suddenly realizing that he was carrying a sword, and she hadn't seen him doing that before. "No, he didn't show me anything, it was completely voice chat." The perkiness had dropped and Jubilee was suddenly beyond cautious. Something was going on, and she didn't know about it and she didn't like it at all.
"Doc, what the heck is going on?"

He looked relieved when she told him that she hadn't seen Aizen take out his sword. He pointed at the couch, then sat down in a chair. "Okay. Sorry about that, Jubilee-san. That's great. Good. I'm glad to hear that. If he'd shown you his katana..." Isshin shook his head.
"All right. First - the reason I asked whether you saw his katana. I don't know if Zaraki-taichou has told you about zanpakutou... Has he told you about their different stages?" He thumbed the tassel of his own zanpakutou as he awaited Jubilee's answer.
He didn't think that Zaraki had told her much of anything about it. She didn't even know who Aizen was or why she should be avoiding him.

She nodded to the sword. Jubilee had seen more than one katana in her life and had learned to tell a tiny bit about quality. "I'm guessing they're more than just well wrought instruments?"

Then, he got to the end and blinked. "Illusions and hypnosis?" She asked, incredulous. "That's the big deal?" Another blink. "No, seriously Doc, what's the deal? Because..." She shifted uncomfortably for a moment. "Well, he sounds a lot like," she paused counting on her fingers, "well, about three mutants I'm sure of, and that's not including the telepaths."
Jubilee rooted through her coat and pulled out a piece of gum. "I'm assuming you guys don't have telepathic shields where you're from?"

No. She was still there, still surprised at him for being so worried about Aizen. He had to admit (if only to himself), it was kind of demoralizing to have a young woman shake off "You don't understand!" He protested. "It's complete hypnosis. And he doesn't make you think you're a chicken or whatever it is, he can make you think that someone else is him. You go to attack what you think is him and it turns out it's your best friend or something ( ... )

Jubilee wasn't certain, but she was pretty sure.
"Then there were ones like the Shadow King." Her hands clenched. "He could control your mind and bend you to his will no matter what you did to fight him. Make you see things, experience things, smell things that weren't really there, but were real to you." Jubilee couldn't look at him. "He would've made me kill Dad. And I would've done it, unable to fight him, but Dad managed to stop me."
She drew another deep breath and looked up at him. "But there are ways to fight. Ways to protect your mind from things like that. And I've been trained in them."
