Who: Rachel Berry and Finn Hudson
When: Jan 19; afternoon
Where: Starting at Finn's apartment and then wandering outside
Summary: Kurt finally told Rachel all of the things that she missed and now she has a lot of questions for Finn.
Warnings: melodramatic teen issues

A lot of things had happened in this place since Rachel had arrived on it about three months previous. In fact, most of them were of the variety that she didn't want to talk about or that she avoided thinking about whenever they were brought up by anyone else that lived on the island. One of those things was the first time that she'd gone outside during the Darkness despite being told over and over again not to.

The second was the end of the first month that she'd been there and it had really occurred to her that she was stuck there potentially forever, and she'd just curled into a ball and cried.

The third didn't count, because it was already like so many things that had happened at home, but it was the way she'd felt almost stupidly at home around Finn after even just being surrounded by the scent of home that exuded. She'd practically thrown herself at him and it had just made her feel... well, Kurt had fixed her up the way he does, but it had made her feel back to that stupid girl who had sat in the middle of the stage in the auditorium with a picnic meant for two, all alone.

It was important to her that nobody knew those things about her-- important that people (mostly Kurt, Blaine and Santana) see that she was more mature than they gave her credit for. She was more than just the talent that they could see and hear when she was with them. She was an adult. Or... almost an adult. Whatever, she was more of an adult-- they were all more adult than they had been at any time that they'd spent sitting in the choir room back home (and yet she'd trade all of the maturity that she'd built up to be back there where it felt more like home than anywhere else ever had). She was going to prove to everyone with this chance that she was just as grown up as the rest of them were-- she was ready for anything.

Even if it wasn't exactly really true. She wasn't mature in the way that Santana always had managed to be without anything that Rachel could see prompting it. She wasn't mature like Kurt and Blaine who had been there the longest and who had definitely had it the hardest, but still took care of her the way that older brothers would. She wasn't mature like Finn who seemed to take everything in stride here, or like Quinn who had already had a baby. She was different and she was used to that. Her outstanding amount of talent in everything theatre related set her apart from other students and seemed to bother them. Though not here. It just made her feel a little strange in ways that she couldn't explain and ways that she didn't want to drag Kurt into. He'd become more than just a regular friend since she'd been there, and she liked it a lot, but things had seemed heavy around the apartment without her adding to it. So she'd decided to just go on acting as though she still felt as mature and confident as ever and she knew that she was a great actress, it was what she was born to do, so there was no reason to anyone to question how she felt.

Which is how Rachel found herself making her way to Santana's apartment, her hand closed tightly into fists as she closed her eyes and took a calming breath in before letting it out in a heavy sigh. Kurt had explained everything to her, everything that she'd missed and that Finn hadn't told her. She still didn't understand why he didn't just tell her about it. Well, unless... unless he'd changed his mind about it and was thinking of this as a clean slate to do whatever he wanted (which was a possibility-- he was living with two other girls, one who had taken his virginity and the other who seemed to have every ability to wrap him around her little finger), in which case... well, she wasn't sure what she was going to do about that, but Rachel Berry was a positive thinker and she was just going to have to hope for the best and force all of the negativity away from herself.

She wished that she had one of those yoga dvds that her dads kept around the house and helped to relax them a lot-- she'd have to ask Kurt about something like that.

Finally gathering up the last bit of her will, Rachel lifted her chin, raised her had and knocked on the door, hoping that Finn was going to answer the door and not Santana or Quinn.
