That someone was a certain teen with a three foot long braid staring at the cereal with a slightly distant expression. It hadn't been a good week for him. Between the viscera attack, lack of sleep, his shoulder still kind of aching even with the healing he got from Unohana and Ion (or maybe he was just imagining that?), Fai getting sent home and his lack of hours at either work place, he just kind of wanted to lock himself in his apartment and never come out again.

But he couldn't do that. He knew if any of his friends from back home were there they would have smacked him upside his head and told him to suck up, which was exactly what he was trying to do.

The exhaustion wasn't helping that any, though, and he was just staring at the boxes in front of him until he got ran in to. He grunted, turning to snap at the person who did it... until he saw who it was.

"Whoa, Clarie!"

Her eyebrows raised in surprise. It was always nice seeing familiar faces around, especially in Siren's Port. She gave a small, kind smile.

"Hey, Duo. Sorry about that." She was glad she hadn't run into an elderly person or a child. Not that she was happy that she'd run into somebody she was acquaintances with, though.

"Long time, no see." Well, technically for only one of them. Her eyes quickly trailed down the length of his hair. That was a first- on a guy, anyway. Was that the style in space? Either way, it was definitely a unique style.

"Yeah, where the hell you been? I haven't seen you on the network in like, forever," Duo said, not really noticing that she was staring at his hair. He got odd looks all the time, so another one wasn't anything new.

"Oh, you know," Claire gave a shrug. "Around, I guess. I've been kind of busy lately." What with learning how to defend herself and getting attacked by Darkness monsters.

"Aww, that sucks. I kinda wanted to call you and hang out, but... well, here's the funny thing... I couldn't get a hold of you the other day. It was weird."

Yes, he had been looking. With what had happened to him, and all the talk of the new monsters, he'd been doing checkups on his friends (except Ion, who was still in the hospital) and had managed to find most of them the morning after his attack on the 6th. Except Fai and Claire. Fai at least was confirmed as having been sent back, but Claire on the other hand...

"Pro'ly nothing, though. You were busy, didn't pick up or whatever."

"You did?" She considered telling him about her experience with those viscera things, but ultimately decided against it. She hadn't even told Peter about it yet. She didn't exactly want a lecture about the dangers of going out.

"Sorry I didn't call you back." She wasn't the best at keeping track of missed notifications on her NV.

"Nah, don't worry 'bout it," Duo waved his hand a bit, shaking his head. "Just wanted t' make sure everyone was okay, too. Gotten kinda crazy out there, yehknow?"

He wasn't exactly keen about talking about his experience either, but he did kind of make it known that something had happened thanks to his post on the network.

"Yeah, definitely. Especially with those weird...red things roaming around." Did they have a name yet? She hadn't seen anything about.

"Yeah, those." She adjusted her weight onto her left leg, shifting her body as she leaned against her shopping cart. "Did you see the video Pickles had on the network a while ago?"

She tried to keep her tone conversational, but in the back of her mind was a slight shimmer of fear. The experience of being eaten by one was horrifying; and it still affected her, despite her inability to feel the actual pain of it all.

"Uh, no... no I think I missed that. I don't always catch everything on the network," Duo admitted, scratching at the back of his neck a bit. "Why?"

Claire gave a half-hearted shrug. "I think he had the first footage of it. On the network, anyway."

She rubbed the back of her hand. "It was pretty gross, though, so you were probably better off not seeing it."

He made a face at that, sighing quietly. If only it was that simple.

"Wish I could say you were right 'bout that, but I've already seen one..."

A quick look of sympathy crossed her face.

"What happened?" Hopefully he'd managed to not get too hurt.

Shifting the basket on his arm, Duo moved enough that he could pull his collar back from his jacket and shirt, showing a faint scar on his shoulder. Unohana had healed him but had done enough to just save his life, leaving some scaring from the attack, and unfortunately by the time Ion had gotten to him the damage was already done to his skin.

"Got stupid and tried to race home after the sirens. Damn thing found me 'round the corner just before I got back to my apartment and... well... let's just say I'm lucky I ain't missin' an arm."

She grimaced at the sight. It wasn't the worst thing she'd ever seen, but still- it was a pretty gruesome attack.

"Yeah, those things are dangerous. It's easy for them to catch you off guard." Good thing for her that she could regenerate, hiding all scars from her injuries.
