It Takes One To Know One [CLOSED]

May 05, 2010 20:09

Who: Solid Snake "Big Boss", Ocelot, Light Yagami
When: The evening of the 5th, before the Darkness.
Where: Starting at the apartment Light is holed up in, then to a more rundown one in Sector 10.
Summary: Ocelot enforces his own brand of justice on Light. Snake goes along for the ride.
Warnings: Interrogation, torture, disguises, oh my!

His eyes itched.

Making his way to the apartment building Light was reported to be hiding in was the easy part of this mission, if only because it left him time to gather his thoughts and prepare himself mentally and emotionally for what was to come. That in itself proved irritating, though; he found it difficult to concentrate when he had to alternate between preoccupying himself with the same two concerns every other minute -- rubbing the eye that wasn't concealed by the patch and having to catch himself from bumping into every person, street light or newspaper bin he managed to come across on his way. With his depth perception halved, walking had become strange and only added to the overall surreality of the day. It may have been different if he had more time to prepare; maybe less nerve-wracking, maybe less of a pain, but no one said this was a sound plan to begin with even if Ocelot certainly seemed to think otherwise.

Most of the tinier details had been handwaved and disregarded as unimportant. While his eyes were too bright a shade of green to simply ignore and required contacts, the issue of how he was a few inches shorter than Big Boss and possessed a slimmer build were written off by Ocelot as trivial. Nevermind how much of a contradiction that seemed. If Light dated Big Boss, surely he'd be able to pick up on how he suddenly shrunk from 6'3 to 5'9. The kid was careless, maybe even too stressed from the desperation of his situation to really apply some common sense to the situation, but he wasn't stupid.

It just gave him an incentive to hurry up and get this over with, he supposed. Just walking around like this felt weird; not just like he was dressed in clothes that didn't belong to him, but an entirely different set of skin. It wasn't a means to hide his identity so much as it was a role to be played.

He wondered if Solidus had felt the same at points, given how he resembled Big Boss more than Snake did for obvious reasons. Thinking of it made him more pensive about this than he already was, so for the most part, he kept his mind blank and his posture straight as he walked through the doors of the apartment lobby he himself had been living in only four months ago. Hands jammed in the pockets of a brown trench coat that smelled faintly of nicotine and old sweat, the man that could have been an exact replica of Big Boss from the eyepatch down to the familiar way he carried himself--full of purpose and a serenity that barely belied cool determination--took his time as he made his way up to the room one Light "Shiraga" was hiding away in like a caged animal. Moseyed down the hallway, checking the bronze numbers nailed to the doors with his one good eye, stopping at the one at the very end of the corridor.

Inconspicuous alright.

And knocking twice.
