[ooc: Lemme know if I should change anything! I wasn't sure on this making sense but I was stuck for any other ideas.]
[With even more reason not to go outside at night, as if you needed another, you think Rochelle would be smarter than not to be caught out here. Yeah, Rochelle thought so too. But an AK-47 in your hand, an axe strapped to your back, and a desert eagle in the holster on your hip makes things a hell of a lot easier. When the news van ran out of gas and she didn't have much choice but to walk, she was silently thanking god for hiding her weapons in the back
( ... )
[well that was a familiar voice, if not one he'd heard recently. (Then again, after a year and a half, how "recent" could he say anything was?)] Rochelle? - Watch out, there's still a few hounds left!
[they'd been circling around the structure, keeping to the shadows. At the sound of someone approaching however, they snarl and dart out to run at Rochelle. Sam tries to pick one off, firing a quick shot.]
[And Rochelle thought it was long enough she hadn't talked to him in a few weeks. Had it been a month by now? She couldn't remember.
But that wasn't what she was focused on right now.]
I got it!
[Now that she was close enough--yep. Those were definately hounds her head had pinged her too. Without another thought she was firing quick, short bursts from the AK-47. Most of them dropped, fast. The last ones left were at least wounded at slowed, but they weren't going to be hard to take care of any finish off.]
[holy shit. It's been a while since Sam's been this close to an assault rifle.
Actually - scratch that. Sam's never been this close to an assault rifle. Forgive the shifter for looking jumpy after the monsters are put down. Damn, girl.] ...Jesus. You got a name for that thing?
[and he'll take out one with a shot to the chest - another he'll fire at, miss, and fire at again. Second time's the charm.]
[When the biggest, closest threats were down Rochelle took notice at Sam's reaction and a grin slowly start to spread. Oh, she had some bragging rights in her hand and she knew it.]
Pshh What, you never seen one this big up close?
[One last one got her attention when she saw it charging for same behind him. Her smile quickly dissapeared.]
Head's up! One more little bastard! [Ro kneeled down and took care of it for him, blasting it in the head.]
[Sam flinches, then watches the beast drop down into the dirt - practically headless now. Holy shit.] ...Nah. Nah, I've seen one that big before. And you handle it real well too. Goddamn.
We should probably start gettin' back inside though.
[Rochelle let out the breath she had been holding, briefly, and gave a breathy laugh and a smile.] Yeah who's barking now? [Then she looked to Sam, her smile growing now.] Thanks.
I REALLY don't want to stay in another nightclub again. But I guessing I don't have much choice. [Said begrudgingly. So, so begrudgingly.] What are you doing out here, anyway, Sam?
I know, I know... doesn't mean I LIKE it, but. Good enough for me. [AKA Rochelle will suck it up, she'll take having to spend the night in a club over being out here any longer.]
It did? [Blink.] I only saw you last week. You've been back home since then?
I'll try and find us somewhere quiet to sit. [but he's moving quickly now, just to get them in somewhere. Handy as her huge gun and his trusty piece are, he'd rather not risk his life tonight.]
I don't know how long it's been. ...Might've been shorter than a week, even. I still need to figure out what day it is.
[Ro doesn't waste any time. She nods and follows right behind him.]
For a start, it's November 30th. [Ro's reloading that huge gun of hers as she moves. She's had enough experience reloading on the run, but it was still nice when she got to stay still for a while.] So you really went home?
- That's it? [He does a quick, baffled calculation. If he remembered right, that would mean -
He'd only been gone for a day. One day.]
Yeah. [reeling with this realization.] For a year an' a half. ...But I think it's only been a day here. Christ. ...This place never stops bein' fucked up.
