It wasn't just her then. That... thing was responsible for her transformation failing, and was doing the same to Daniel's powers. And not even guns were working on it. But it's attention was on Daniel for the moment and that was enough for Minako to start working at the chain again.

At the last second she remembered that even if she couldn't transform, she did keep her Crescent Blade on her from her old Sailor V costume. She pulled it out of her pocket and quickly swiped at the chain, finally snapping it and freeing the teen. They both stood with every intent to run the hell away, but their motions became much more interesting to the creature than the cat with the gun.

It turned on them and moved with surprising speed across the distance, tentacle-like protrusions launching out from it's sinewy mass. In a surprising turn, just as it was about to reach for Minako, the teen pushed her out of the way. She fell to the ground and looked up only in time to see the creature latch on to his legs and take him down hard and drag his body towards itself.

He didn't scream.

She didn't know why he didn't scream, when he had been so afraid to die earlier.

She reached out for him frantically, but already it was too late. The boy looked up at her with wide eyes, just as the entire blob enclosed around him.

"NO!"

"You helped--" was all the boy got to say before there was a sickening CRUNCH, and what blood wasn't instantly taken inside the thing sprayed across Minako's face. There was a moment of silence while the creature digested it's unfortunate pray before Minako began shrieking, shaking hands to her face desperately trying to rub the blood off, but only making it smear worse.

If Daniel didn't hurry, she was going to be next.

"No!" Daniel ran around the blob and grabbed a garbage can. He threw it at the monster, hoping to get it to eat it for a moment. He ran for Minako and grabbed her hand.

"Come on! Don't let his sacrifice be in vain! GET UP!"

Unfortunately the creature wasn't interested in the can, but it did, at least, get struck by it enough to slow it down.

Minako was dragged to her feet and pulled along, but she couldn't stop her panic. She had never seen some one die before, let alone get devoured in front of her. The feel of blood on her skin... it was still warm, sticky, wrong.

"No no no no no..." she was chanting under her breath as Daniel tried to get her out of there.

"Come on! If we don't run it will eat us too!" He had to get her moving. He knew that had to be horrifying for her. It was for him too but right now survival was more important to him. The kid was dead, end of story. But they were still alive and they had to move faster.

Stumbling, Minako was dragged along by him. She was moving, though, and that was enough to get them away. The thing was going to keep after them, but if Danny could get them to a decent hiding place, or a darkness proofed building, they might have a chance of surviving the night.

There had to be a building with darkness proofing they could get into somewhere around here. Danny looked out into the distance, his legs burning. He knew the couldn't stop now. They needed to escape, needed to find a safe place. And then he saw it in the distance. The Tower Apartments! It would be open and it had darkness proofing! It was perfect!

"We're almost there! Keep running!"

She still didn't speak, only following with Daniel pulling her along. She was obviously in shock, mind still replaying the scene of the teen's death over and over again in her head.

She had started sobbing at some point, but it didn't stop her from moving. Tears rolled down her cheeks rapidly, vision blurring. She tightened her grip on Daniel's hand since it was the only way to keep from losing him.

Daniel ran with all his might. He ran up the stairs to the front of the Tower, yanking the door open and pulling Minako in behind him. He slammed the door shut and scurried back. His back hit the wall and he slid down, his ass resting on the cold linoleum floor. Oh please don't let that thing get inside. That was the last thing they needed. For it to somehow be able to get through the darkness proofing. That would be the last fucking thing they needed. He held Minako close to him, green eyes trained on that door. If it got through they'd have to run up the stairs. But he was so tired. So exhausted.

He caught sight of it moving outside the door, the silhouette of that horrible monster. How could something like that go unnoticed for so long? And why was it here now? It moved outside, ducking and dodging before seeming to give up and slink away into the night. Oh damn it all. That...that was terrifying.

Minako could only curl up next to Daniel where they wound up sitting in the lobby, with no where else to go since neither of them lived there anymore. She clung to him tightly, blood-stained face buried in his arm.

She wouldn't sleep, even though she was exhausted. She couldn't stop crying, even though her eyes burned and her head ached. She could only wait with him until the sun rose again, and hope that the creature would vanish with the light...
