[Marluxia likes to stalk out at night, when he's normally cooped up in the house. Civilized, safe living never really appealed to him anyway.

He's quick to pick up on rumors of new happenings in the Port, ones that matter to him, anyway, and the prospect of new monsters lurking around in the Darkness was more than enough to pique his interest. The more he learned about these creatures, the more he might be able to glean about the true nature of the Port, the Core, whatever.

He wore his Organization coat for such excursions, even though wasn't really part of them any more. It was practical, probably one of the few good ideas those scientists had. He kept the hood up, turning himself into just another black shape in the Dark.

[Far too much had been going on for Frau lately. Teito's sudden arrival had been both a blessing and a curse. At the moment, the curse seems a lot stronger. Frau is struggling to deal with his apprentice's memory loss. That night, it was too much for him to just sit inside so he'd zaiphon'd Teito into the apartment and left.

Standing atop one of the roofs, Frau drinks in the night and tries to relax a bit. He knows it won't really work, even though heights are usually a good place for him to get his thoughts together. This time, he figures he's only going to be able to distract himself. Fighting darkness monsters would be a good way to do it.]

[From his vantage point, Marluxia must have looked not all that different from a creature stalking in the Darkness for living prey, slipping carefully from shadow to shadow, barely seen in the gloom.

The smell of blood from the ground was faint, but unmistakable to the Assassin's sharp senses. He paused, scenting the air before looking at the ground, the alley walls, to find the source of the smell. Blood in a place like this was rather dismayingly common, and if he could determine how fresh the blood was, and the general direction of the creature that had lost it, he could move on. He finally finds the source, a trail of blood not unlike someone dragged a body across the ground, and he starts to follow it, footfalls scarcely making a sound.]

[The movement blow caught Frau's attention. So far he hadn't run into anything major, and the area was relatively quiet now. Seeing something actually moving was worth looking into. Frau wouldn't pass up a good fight right about now.

With a few easy bounds across the rooftops, Frau followed after Marluxia. It wouldn't take him much to catch up, but he wanted to investigate first. When he got close enough, his suspicions were confirmed. This shadow wasn't of the darkness. It didn't feel the same.]

[Marluxia stopped, sensing movement up on the rooftops, turning quickly to try to figure out where the presence was coming from. It didn't feel like a monster, and it didn't move like one, even a humanoid one, but that didn't necessarily stop it from being a monster, especially if it was a ghost or something of the sort. He had a feeling that whatever it was was alive, but again, it was never good to just assume anything of the sort.

Cautiously, he stepped further into the darkness, mindful of the potential threat that he had been originally following. It was unlikely that it was the presence on the roof, so being prepared to fight on several fronts was mandatory.]

[If only Marluxia knew how right he was with thinking it could be a monster or a ghost. In a very real way, Frau was both. He fit both descriptions far better than he did the one of "alive."

Frau would have waited and observed more, but the sudden feeling of darkness and power caught his attention. He took a quick glance over his shoulder and managed to bound out of the way before he was smashed. The sound alone was likely enough to catch Marluxia's attention, but if not the sudden arrival of Frau on the ground probably would.]

Head's up!

[Marluxia was quick to jump out of the way, bringing his scythe to hand, preparing. He wasn't exactly expecting an attack from Frau when he reaches the ground and recovers, but something was up there, and was almost certainly going to follow.

He let out a small shout, just to indicate that he was ready, already moving in to cover Frau's recovery, eyes cast upwards.]

[Frau hardly needed time to turn and face the darkness creature that had tried to kill him on the roof. He whirled around, left hand already at his right forearm and calling the scythe out of it. As he scanned the skyline again, he gave the scythe a small twirl in anticipation. The weapon itself was rather eager too. It hadn't had a change to feed yet tonight.]

((We going for a regular darkness monster or a new one? Or both?))

[Well, this was going to be interesting. Marluxia shifts away a few paces in preparation for the creature from above. Fighting in an alley with a long weapon like a scythe was a pain, and with two whirling about, things could get tricky indeed if they happened to get pinned back into one another. Best to give the other man a bit of space. He seems ready to fight now anyway.]

[We could each control one if you're up for that? Any way is fine with me.]

Come out, come out.

[Frau smirked, not willing to just wait around for this creature to come to them. It was going to get destroyed one way or another. Might as well make it quick. He lifted his free hand and snapped off a quick blast of zaiphon to draw it out.]

((Fine by me.))

[Marluxia's lip quirked slightly upwards at the display, expression hidden under the hood. The strangers got more and more interesting by the moment.

He didn't let his admiration distract him from the sound of something wet scraping on the pavement at the other end of the alley blind. Whatever he had been following was clearly moving in.

Guess it wasn't the only one who was impressed.

Casting a glance over to Frau, he circles over to it, scythe notched behind his back, ready to snap and strike.]

[Frau noticed the movement, and let it go. There was something behind them, but Marluxia seemed to be focusing on that one, which meant Frau could handle the one currently racing down the building toward him. It wasn't anything he hadn't seen before, just an ordinary darkness monster.

He took a step forward and bounded up to meet the creature. His scythe swirled in an easy arc, severing the thing in two without any difficulty. Frau landed lightly and shifted halfway to check on his current "ally" while still keeping an eye on their backs.]

[Well, good. More proof that the Assassin wasn't going to have to carry the day. Once the creature Frau was daling with was down, Marluxia turns his full attention to the thing in the alleyway, charging up on him.

He ignores the foul smell coming from the rotting flesh and gore scraping against the sidewalk and moves in to attack it, letting his scythe fly into the meaty, formless mess.]

[Frau stays out of the way for the most part. Too many people in close range in a fight can cause more problems than it solves. Unless he's needed in this fight, he'll just hang out right here. Besides, if something creeps up on them from behind, Frau would like to be able to do something about it.]

[Marluxia makes rather quick work of the creature, a storm of violence and roses. Once the thing was reduced to a disgusting pile of ooze, he pays it mind no longer, instead turning to Frau.]

Were you hunting these creatures as well?

Yeah, I guess you could say that.

[Now that all of the creatures nearby were gone, Frau started pressing the scythe back into his arm. It didn't want to go, as usual, but at least it didn't put up too much of a fight.]
