Who: Shikamaru and Hidan.
When: Afternoon of Monday, November 14.
Where: Hidan's apartment.
Summary: Most unusual offerings for the sake of peace, from one psychopath to his nemesis. A plan that just might work for the long term.
Warnings: Language, gore, human sacrifice... Allow me to introduce you to Hidan.
He picked up spare ribs on the way to the Tower Apartments. He wasn't hungry but he guessed that Hidan would be. He'd never given the guy a final meal before executing him, after all. There was a chance Hidan's favorite food might be different now, coming straight out of their world instead of NeoGenesis, but he hoped it would at least be acceptable.
Of course, worrying about whether or not Hidan would enjoy his dinner was ridiculous to begin with. The fact that he even considered bringing food to Hidan made him feel both foolish and ashamed. This was his enemy. Yes, they had been brothers in another life, but that life was gone. Hidan couldn't remember it, and even back when he could, he had still tried to kill Shikamaru once the memories of their battle had returned. That led Shikamaru to the conclusion that more drastic measures had to be taken. Hidan's rehabilitation would be a slow and arduous process. The best that he could do would be to keep others out of Hidan's way.
And if, in the end, this too failed, then he'd go back to the original plan. But he had to at least try to reawaken Hidan's empathy. It was as much for his own redemption as his former brother's.
When he reached Hidan's door, he knocked and immediately took a step back. Yes, he was expecting a violent greeting. Hopefully the aroma of the takeout bag in his hand would be a sufficient distraction.
