Near the train at night? petalsofdeath November 13 2011, 17:26:05 UTC
Marluxia was on the hunt tonight, because sometimes, staying at home with your roommate and your cat isn't enough to pass the time, and the clubs have lost their allure. He wanted to kill, anyway. In his subordinate position, he needed to take out his frustrations on something, every once and awhile. It wasn't nearly as satisfying as hunting and killing sentient prey, watching the light die from their eyes, but killing whatever miscarriage the Core spat out would have to do ( ... )

Amy was actually just on her way back to the apartments. There was a shift later that she offered to take; she was feeling generous today. While she waited for the next train, she had her phone out in her hand, browsing through the network and sending the occasional text. She didn't even realize somebody might be watching her. That's probably why she visibly jumped when Marluxia was suddenly beside her.

Relaxing, she slipped her phone into her back pocket and flashed a slightly embarrassed smile. "Oh, hey. Yeah, been a while. How've you been?"

Marluxia smiled in apology at making her flinch. "I have been all right, I suppose. The change in the weather tends to take away my energy, but is that not true of us all?

That being said, he was not looking forward to a harsh Canadian winter. It would make for poor everything, including hunting.

He folded his arms behind his back, at ease.

"Were you on your way home? Perhaps you would like to come by and have some dinner with me?"

In reality, Marluxia was not a very good cook. Two years since he had left the Organization and had to worry about those sort of things, and he had only mastered cooking rice and ramen noodles. Everything else was just sort of... there. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't something one was normally eager to share. He did have some wine, at least. That tended to make the food taste better.

"I'm a bit used to it," she laughed, tugging at the end of her red scarf. Amy experienced enough winters in Scotland and England to be able to handle Canada. But some warmer weather would definitely be welcomed; she's still waiting on Rio to happen.

Then she lifted her eyebrows and widened her eyes, a little thrown by the question. She wasn't aware he was ... interested. Unless it was all in a strictly friendly manner -- she was engaged after all (not that it stopped anyone from asking). Maybe no one realized. She didn't have her ring with her when she arrived.

"Ehm, sort of. I have a shift at the baseball diamond." And Amy wasn't the type to break a promise. She scratched the back of her head, adding, "Maybe some other time, yeah?"

"I have to admit, I never stayed anywhere long enough to worry about it." That was true enough. Those two years in the apartments, he almost never left the building in the wintertime, save for occasionally going out for supplies or for chilly little walks with his lover-

Thinking about that pricked at a deeper memory, one that had been mostly suppressed since he arrived here, and one that he was sure he would soon forget again. Their second year anniversary had been a couple of days ago, hadn't it? An ache that was almost as powerful as the aches that he used to feel when he was totally bereft of a heart struck him, but he swallowed it back with one of those easy smiles that came so quickly when he was pretending to be anything but what he really was.

"No need to worry on it. You could come by after your shift is over if you would like. I hardly sleep these days. It would be nice to have some company, either way. I used to entertain friends all the time."

"You traveled around a lot, too?" she asked with a curious gaze. Amy could relate because everything up until recent had been constant time traveling. It's still a weird feeling to be stuck in one place, but her childhood was like this, so it's not all foreign.

But then Amy started to wonder what it must be like to be in this place without knowing anybody. At least she always had the Doctor, but for people who were away from everything knew -- even if that wasn't the case for Marluxia. She was just more conscious about it.

She nodded. "Yeah, sure. I'll see what I can do."

"Yes, as a matter of the last job I had. I would go visit a place and then write about it for my superiors. We collected raw materials for manufacturing, mostly." It was the most tortured half-truth he ever told, but he told it well.

"Give me a ring then. I do not sleep often these days, so I am up at all hours of the night. You would not be bothering me, nor the cat that has decided to adopt me." He smiled a bit at the thought of the needy little thing that wedged herself into his life.

"Not a bad job, then. Sounds pretty similar to what I was doing. Err, except for the writing bit." And probably everything else. But Amy is a time traveller, so visiting places is what she does -- or did.

Then she nodded her head, finding a smile as her hands slipped into her coat pockets again. "Definitely. I'll phone you and see what you and your cat are up to." She chuckled at the mention of the cat. She's still waiting for the day that the Doctor brings one home.

"I should like to hear about it sometime."

Marluxia returned her smile, arching his shoulders slightly. "I should not keep you today, however. You do have that commitment..."
