Who: Helen Magnus & Simon Tam
When: Friday, November 4 | Post-Siren's
Where: Borders of Sectors 4 & 9
Summary: Helen's out hunting for a monster, Simon's going home... yeah.
Warnings: Two very polite individuals. May not even have much swearing? Medical stuff goings on too.
It was late, although given what Helen was doing it was the only appropriate time. Hunting. She may have died, may have had a 'break' but there were still things that Helen wished to know about the Port and those answers would only come if she looked for them. Flashlight in one hand, tranquiliser gun in the other (and another gun tucked away), Helen left her lab, wits and open ears about her.
She wanted to say that the past few days, perhaps even weeks had been building, growing into something but honestly it had felt as if something had been happening since she had arrived... perhaps even prior to then. Personally? Personally, at home, it had been the same, so much so that she'd 'exploded' a little. James had been right that she'd needed the vacation and after returning to the Port she'd realised just how much he'd been right. Helen had managed to find a little calm and peace here but now that seemed a little gone also. Something stupid, something that wasn't even anything but still she'd done it and this was all that she could - wanted - to do; to drive away the possibility of thinking, of dwelling on everything (something that she did far too well) and to just work. To drive it all away. It was a bad plan but it was her only plan and now she was, hunting a monster just so she didn't have to think.
Helen had barely been out before hearing the sounds of something (and something promising), although that turned out to be nothing - wind blowing abandoned items through the streets, clanging them against building walls. She allowed herself to relax for a second - tensing wouldn't help her when she needed to react (she'd learned that years ago). The waiting game was just beginning.
