[He may not understand how it got to that point, but a promise is a promise. But something he hadn't promised was a costume, and thus he is dressed normally. Because he doesn't see the point in dressing up like an idiot. Some things are just over the line for him, even if being costume-free here makes him look more conspicuous ( ... )

[ Grell had bought an extremely skimpy, pink kitty cat costume for this affair. But Will had nixed it (at least for wearing outside of their flat!), so Grell has made do with a short skirt, a basket, and a red hood. ]
Hmmm, let me guess!
[ He makes a show of thinking... ]
I know!
You're an INSUFFERABLE BORE!

Good for you. And seeing as you find me so insufferable, you'd probably find it more enjoyable to stop speaking with me. [Hint: Go. Away.]

[ Grell bends over, ostensibly to speak to Hitsugaya - but really to show off his bright red, frilly panties, under his skirt. ]
But the question remains - what're you doing here at all? Aren't you far too ~serious~ for this sort of affair?

[ RUFFLES Hitsugaya's hair! ]
No one could possibly stand to be your friend~!

Perhaps you've got imaginary friends. That's normal enough - for a CHILD!

I'm also not a child, as you should be well aware by now.

I suppose there will always be kind souls to ~take pity~ on you.

So it ~must~ have been out of pity that you were invited.

[Elaine Belloc greets him warmly, approaching him after she spotted him in the crowd. Even if she didn't stand out, she would still effortlessly find him. Nobody can truly hide from her.
She notices that he attended alone. She doesn't bring that up, instead she offers her hand.]
Would you like to dance with your host?
Reply
[He blinks at Elaine for a few seconds, not recognizing her at first, until her voice gives it away. And then he blinks at her hand.]
I don't dance. [He really, really doesn't, and you can't make him.]
Reply
Elaine's too thoughtful for that.]
Can't you?
[Real men dance.]
