Ella, Hattie and Open in the maze :D (10/30/11) of_frell October 30 2011, 16:07:07 UTC
She'd heard about that labyrinth appearing in the newsfeed, but she hadn't thought she'd have anything to worry about. Silly her. After getting home from work, she'd made dinner, tidied up around the house, and promptly staggered up to her room to get some much needed rest.

And woke up in a cornfield. Without a thing to defend herself. After sirens.

There were words one could use to describe her thoughts on this situation, but she was much too much of a Lady to say them. First things first - she got to her feet, unwilling to call out and draw anything's attention, but she listens carefully all the same. Maybe someone else was here - but if whatever dragged her into the Labyrinth thought she was going to sit around and wait to be rescued, they'd have to think again. Rubbing her eyes, she picked a direction and took her first step.

[ OOC: so yeah, Ella will be stumbling upon Hattie, but the thread is open for anyone to run into her before/after she meets up with her stepsister. :D ]

It was a very good dinner, of course Hattie went out of her way to downplay just how good Ella actually was at cooking. Afterward she went out for a walk and before she knew it she had absolutely no idea where she was. It was a very creepy, unsanitary, and all around -evil- environment, wasn't it? Surely a place unfit for a lady like herself ( ... )

Uh. Dashing and handsome? Ella would never use either of those words to describe herself. As much as her stepsister was hoping for a white knight or a handsome prince to catch her, she was going to have to settle for an irritated younger stepsister.

As Ella rounded the corner, she was startled by the body falling right into her. Instinctively she caught the figure, bracing to keep her from hitting the ground. What if she was hurt?

And then she saw who it was. "...HATTIE?" Oh of all the people to be stuck with. In disgust, she loosened her arms to let the older girl clunk to the ground.

Maybe Ella -should- consider using those words to describe herself. In face, maybe Hattie should -tell- Ella to fit that description!!

...

No, that'd get a little too awkward. And speaking of awkward, when Hattie gets a good look at the person her caught her, her eyes went wide and she let out a shriek- cut off by the thud of her body hitting the floor, "Ouch!"

"You.. You -dropped- me, you klutz! Butter fingers!" she gasped in shock, sitting up while holding the back of her head, the other held out as if expecting her step-sister to help her up. "As always, your head is in the clouds, don't you know what predicament you're in? I probably have a bruise now thanks to you!"

Sigh

"No, of course you don't; it's so hard being the brains of this outfit.." she then shakes her hand a little. Help her up already!

"Yeah. I did, didn't I?" Ella grinned, completely and utterly unapologetic. Let's do it again! Ella enjoyed the sound of Hattie going 'THUD'.

Heh, heh, heh.

"You'd have to have brains to be the brains of this outfit. Listen, keep it down, you don't want to get the attention of whatever might be out there." ... ... really? Really Hattie?

"Get up." Ella added with a deadpan look at her stepsister.

Unapologetic? Hattie grits her teeth at Ella, and immedietly snaps back, "No! You can't tell me what to do! -I'm- the older sister, so -I- am the leader, so you do as -I- say!"

She crossed her arms and sat right there on the ground, pouting. Why'd it have to be -Ella- she ran into? This 'damsel in distress' scenario was looking worse and worse; now she'd have to -share- whatever rich and handsome knight in shining armor came upon them!

Pout, pout, and pout some more our Hattie did. "My butt hurts." There's a bit of irony in that statement, isn't there?

Oh for the love of -- Ella quickly made placating 'shh!' gestures, even as Hattie snapped at her. The distant growls of creatures that lurked in the darkness were audible then - she didn't want them to come any closer.

"Sure sure, fine, so lead already." She answered, exasperated. ...

"Thank you for that contribution, Hattie, but I don't see how it's going to help the situation any."

The shushing only encouraged Hattie to get louder, she taking in a deep breath-- But then Ella gave in.

Now we're talking! When it was all said and done, Hattie became the boss. The blonde suddenly made a miraculous recovery and got to her feet, then brushed the dirt from her backside.

"Don't worry about it, it helped me in the end. Now then.." Hattie clasped her hands together, pondering the first course of action as 'The Boss'. As she did this, the sound of growls, howls, and all-around intimidating sounds reached her ears, causing her to yelp again and grip Ella's arm.

She wasn't happy with her action, but she had little choice! "All right then we should find someone quickly. So let's go left. I mean right." ... "No, left." ... "Which way seems safer?"

Sweet mother of mew, was she going to have to -gag- Hattie? No, she had nothing to gag her with. A little annoyed that Hattie had recovered so quickly.

"Ow my arm -" That girl had a surprisingly tight grip when she wanted to. It was probably what kept the men from running away. "I think finding a way out of here is more important than finding someone." Oh jeez, just PICK a direction.

"Fine fine, that way," Ella pointed at random, and started to walk. She'd gotten six steps away when she overheard a growl much closer to where they were. She stopped short. "Or not."

"Ella, dear, what did I just tell you?" Hattie asks, still looking around, "Thinking is -not- your forte', it's mine. Now in a situation like this we're -supposed- to get rescued by a dashing, charming, -sexy- young hero. Someone who looks good in a torn shirt.. And oiled skin. Ooh, and maybe even some muscle, so it should be one of those shirts with no sleeves.."

The blonde proceeds to pant, withdrawing her folding fan from her purse and fans herself quickly, "And he'll say in the most -charming- voice," and she does her best impression of a deep voice, "'Oh dear, you seem to have dropped your fan.. Let me just.. Bend over and pick it up'."

After that she giggles breathlessly, though ends up walking right into Ella when she came to a sudden stop. The only proper response to this was to hit the brunette with her fan, "Ouch! What are you -doing-? Someone could get hurt you -klutz-."

Ella shot her stepsister a look, "You honestly want to sit around waiting for someone? With as many darkness creatures that might be here? You'd get eaten first. We might be the only ones out here, you know. Neither of us have our NVs so we can't exactly call for help ( ... )

Hattie'd never even -seen- a darkness monster yet, everything she knew about them she heard from a second-hand source.. They weren't terrifying enough an explaination for her to be afraid without actually seeing them.

More importantly, her fan got snatched, "Ella!" she gasped in shock, not realizing until the moment of impact that her fan was used as a weapon. Her jaw dropped. After a couple of seconds she screamed, turned and run away. This may be the only time she's ever actually listened to her step-sisters orders.

You're on your own, Ella, and you will be missed! Though take comfort in that after about fifteen steps, Hattie tripped over nothing and fell.

At least she listened for once. Alas fan, we hardly knew ye! Ella slid her cloak off as the now angered darkness monster turned its attention to Ella.

Ella dodged around it, and the beast spun to give pursuit. "Whoa-- faster than I thought it would be." Ella muttered to herself. "Run faster, Ella, Run faster!"

The roars of the beast behind Ella soon grew fainter from where Hattie ... fell over nothing ... leaving the other girl alone. ALONE in the DARKNESS. Don't worry, Ella will work her way back to you once she loses the beastie. I.E. Next round.

Don't get eaten.

Oh Ella would get what was coming to her, Hattie won't forget about that fan! But for now what was more important was her own life! Upon hitting the ground she quickly slapped her hands atop her head and whimpered, not unlike a puppy, until the sound grew fainter..

And fainter..

And then gone.

When Hattie opened her eyes she sat up and looked about, trying to confirm that she wasn't killed and eventually decides she wasn't! Upon this realization, she flipped her hair back and snorted, "Yes run, coward! Ella.. I must admit you did rather well."

She cleared her throat, "I must admit, while you are not exactly my first choice as a 'shining knight' you did rather admirably. I suppose I should thank you for your efforts."

...

"Ella?" Hattie twirled about and just now realized that her stepsister was nowhere to be seen! As the atmosphere started to settle, the blonde swallowed hard, then stepped back to press her back against the wall. "Ella, show yourself this instant!"

Silence.

".. Please?"

I'm just sayin'~ of_frell November 17 2011, 02:29:27 UTC
It was just a fan! It wasn't even alive or anything, jeez. Meanwhile, in Ella's neck of the woods, by virtue of a few quick twists and turns and one last mad scramble over a wall leading her to fall smack on her back in a puddle of mud (or what she really hoped was mud) she managed to give the beast the slip.

"Now I just have to find Hattie. I think I went this way -" Out of breath, she could just barely hear her stepsister's voice, missing the rare moment of complimentary praise. She'll never hear that again.

Just as she was coming into earshot, she heard Hattie's demand, and the curse hauled her forward like an invisible hand dragging her. "WHOAH!!" She lurched forward - careful Hattie, you have a muddy stepsister stumbling right towards you!

And I'm just super sayin'!! *powers up* blondandperfect November 18 2011, 03:36:28 UTC
Just a fan. Hattie has JAILED a man for doing les- Oh wait, that's late into the future, isn't it? With her mojo completely thrown thanks to a lack of Ella, she was left whimpering and uncertain what was supposed to happen.

Why hadn't her prince shown up yet, damn it? How about a mud monster instead?

The blonde's eyes went wide, then Hattie shrieked at the top of her lungs while 'Ella' stumbled toward her. She stepped backward, fell over (again!), then took off her shoe and threw it at her head. If that didn't work, she'd take off her other shoe, and with another shriek, threw -that- at her.

If that didn't put the beast down, she had her final weapon and that was wailing on the mudbeast with her handbag. DIE! "NO! NO! NO! RAAGH! SOMEONE HELP ME!"
