And I'm thinking I prefer not to be rescued.

Who: hexyoutotuesday and painhumbles
When: Friday
Where: Skye Medical Center
Summary: It's time to wake up.
Warnings: Angst, and a lot of it.

It felt like swimming. Almost drowning, really. She was quickly running out of air and could barely see the surface of the water, sun glint off the blurry waves. Her eyes burned staring as she tried to catch the light and her limbs felt numb as she pushed her way to the top. It was a struggle. There was so much pressure on her lungs. Part of her wanted to give up and sink back down. Just give in. Stop fighting. Maybe it was finally time to go.

Finally time to be at peace....

But she was almost there and the girl was just so damn stubborn. With all the strength she had left, she pushed to the surface and breathed in the heavy air. Gasping silently into her oxygen mask, Jinx regained consciousness for the first time since she collapsed on the floor of Purgatory. Her mouth was dry, a faint coppery taste burning in the back of her throat. The lights above her were too bright to open her eyes more than slits. She tried to flex her hands, but barely a twitch came out of it. There was a needle in her arm, various monitors affixed to her body, and she didn't even notice.

Her incoherent attention was focused on the steady beeping of her heart monitor.
