reaction + action - open to housemates or NV! axemeaquestion October 19 2011, 17:41:50 UTC
[Rochelle jolted the hell up this time.

She had nightmares of the Infected before. Here and there. They weren't dreams she ever liked to have but she tried to deal with them and remember she was somewhere safe. It was easier after that. But now, and THAT? Now she had to remind herself all over again.

The producer sat against her backboard, trying to calm herself. The safety of gripping the pistol hidden in her nightstand was suddenly very tempting, but she mentally kept herself from it. Obviously the dreams weren't focused on her, but she wasn't stupid. She knew what one was about. It already reminded her too much of what she already didn't want to think about. Finally she got out of bed, walked into the kitchen, and turned the lights on.

It wasn't too early in the morning to make herself some coffee, right?

Eventually she would mull this over better in her head once. And, you know, not make it about her. Once she could freak out less about remembering what she didn't want to think about.]

[It's six in the morning by the time Emma comes downstairs to the common area. She's showered and dressed and even looks reasonably rested, but distinctly unhappy.]

[Eventually, after a collective hour and a half of sleep on the couch, Rochelle came down too. She was freshly showered and dressed herself, tying up her wet hair back when she noticed Emma.

Oh, that's--Emma Frost, wasn't it?]

Hey.

Hello. I'm scrambling eggs; should I throw in some for you?

[After rubbing her face, sporting that new sleepless look that was all the rage these days, and went to pull up a seat.]

Oh, god. I'd love you if you did--please. And thanks. [No smile, but for all the lack of humor Rochelle at least gave Emma a grateful nod.]

Emma, right?

Not a problem. There's coffee already brewing. [Emma nods to a coffeepot.] Do you want some toast too?

Emma, yes. Rochelle, I assume?

[She shakes her head.] No thanks, I'll just have the eggs.

Yeah. I moved in about a week ago now.

Yes. Welcome to the house. Hope you've been enjoying it here.

Thanks... [She nodded.] I'd be enjoying it more if I could get more than three hours sleep, but I think that's a given.

[Emma nods back.] A lot of people are being caught up in the nightmares. The telepath projecting them is fairly strong, and then in this place you keep getting echoes not only from other telepaths but people with other abilities.

Wait. So you're saying this is supposed to be some telepath doing all this?

I wouldn't phrase it that way -- I don't know that it's the telepath's decision. But there's been one telepath who's been broadcasting these nightmares, very loudly, since Friday night. Other telepaths and other people have added to the signal for part of that time.

I dunno. Some of those dreams? They're from my world and... as far as I know, none of the guys here from where I'm from are telepaths. And we already all got our powers.

Rochelle -- telepathy works both ways. The telepath isn't creating these nightmares - some of the dreamers are clearly different people than others - he or she is reading them from whoever had them and rebroadcasting.

Oh. [Bleary blink, before she gives a small smile.] So you how much I know now. The most weird my world has is zombies. And that's MORE than enough weird for us, so I haven't exactly brushed up on telepathy. You know, besides the movies.

I've been a telepath for a long time now; by now it comes naturally. I'm sorry about the zombies; our world has some, but the state isn't contagious.
