Rain was leaning heavily on Dante's shoulder, and the two were definitely not walking in a straight line.]
It's fine, if we see any monsters, I'll just run them through.
[And Rain wasn't going to argue, so the pair managed to wander a few blocks before the first Darkness sent its first minion at them.
A tall Grunder lumbered in their path.]
Okay, time for me to do some work.
[Dante guided Rain to a relatively hidden corner and then approached the monster. He wasn't so smashed that his vision was impaired, so he did in fact see the metallic glint on the Grunder's skin, but it did not register as anything special to him. He simply took out his handguns and fired at the thing. And so, it came as a dull surprise to him when his target closed the distance between them faster than he anticipated.]
Ah shit!
[The monster struck Dante, and though he managed to block the blow with his sword, the force made him skid back several feet.]
(ooc: Rain + Dante shenanigans but anyone is free to jump in)

"Caught inna badwomansh, want yo badromansh~! BWAH?!"
Unaware at least until Dante came flying into the trash heap wtih him.
"Howarya flyihng? Come shing wiz me!"
Well, ok, he was still completely unaware of the Grunder.

"Why is this thing so much more annoying than usual," grumbled Dante, completely willing to blame the drinks he accepted against his better judgement instead of strange metallic mutations the Grunder was sporting.
Not only was he feeling slower compared to the thing, he felt his attacks were barely hurting it. Only the quickest and hardest of his attacks seemed to have any effect at all. And seriously, did these things always hit so hard?
Dante did manage to push Rain out of the way before the Grunder closed in on him. It made a vicious swipe at the demon hunter, but Dante deflected it with his sword. Then he pulled out one of his guns and opened fire at the Grunder's small head. Point blank.

Normally, the lower half of a face, slender legs, and dark heels were all that defined Caster, while the rest of her robe concealed the remainder of her figure like an enveloping shadow. However, currently faced by a beast of the Darkness, a pair of darkly gloved hands had extracted themselves from the folds of her cloak to press against her chest. Surprise parted lips coated in purple lipstick as she took a single step away from the growling creature.
Bearing a face reminiscent of a skull, green fur that seemed black under the veil of evening, and dark irises, a Skuller Mutt was the aggressor confronting the woman tonight. Renown for the hypnotic power held within its eyes, the metallic pattern branding its back readily made it an even more threatening foe.
Although Caster proudly knew a myriad of spells to wield at her defense, she found herself standing immobile, even as the brute reared back on its hind legs in preparation of bounding forward to snap its jaws at her.

"Miss, what are you doing out here all by yourself?" He asked Caster, voice chiding and concerned at the same time.

"My apologies if I’ve troubled either of you," she stated, a note of sincerity curving the gentle lilt of her voice. "You have my thanks." Appreciation warmed her voice and brought a smile to her lips. "I was simply on my way back, but it seems like the Darkness set upon the day faster than I expected." The soft purr of a chuckle, made pleasantly at her own expense, punctuated her remark. "It is my own miscalculation, so I only have myself to blame."
For a short moment, she paused, her hood concealing a gaze that flickered between both of them in brief assessment. "But," she deliberated with concern, "are both of you alright yourselves?" It was a question not only regarding their welfare after facing a monster but their intoxicated state as well.

"We're alright. Got a little carried away there, but thanks for asking. We really should get going though. Where do you live, miss?"

"The Tower Apartments," she answered, simply. "Do the two of you live there as well?"

And then, as if to prove how right he is, the sound of countless wings fills the air. Out of the dark sky, grotesque half-bodies materialize, descending on the trio upon greasy, dripping wings: a mob of Icarus. Mixed in with the Icarus, small Parrotsquid flash like darts of silver, using the larger monsters as shields from which to attack.
One Parrotsquid manages to clip Rain in the face, raking out a long line of red in his skin. Instinctively, he clutches at it with his hand, but as he pulls it away, he notices flaky silver dust glittering in his blood.
"What the?"

However, she wasn't quick enough for Rain, leading to the injury he received just then. Nevertheless, it was there now, and it would protect each of them from only one attack. While she could certainly recast it, she didn't want to spend all evening on the defense. Although she could switch to the offense, she decided to leave that field to them.
Glancing over at the wounded man, she asked with concern, "Are you alright?"
