Sam stopped dead. He had been up for a while, though he didn't have much of anything to do. It was a routine he'd gotten himself into. Up at the siren, work out, shower, breakfast, obsess over the network, maybe do some research on the creepy crawley of the day or clean his weapons, lunch, burn off some more energy, stalk the network some more, maybe dinner, maybe a little hustling, maybe a little sleep. It wasn't perfect, but it was working for him ( ... )

In actuality he hadn't been waiting outside that long but considering his situation at the moment, having just woken up in some weird city and attacked by a monster, it felt like a lot longer. Standing out there, he looked up and down the walkway in both directions until he heard the sound of the door opening. But when he looked over at it, it had already shut... and opened again ( ... )

Sam was tempted to go in for another hug, not ready to part quite that quickly, but he knew how Dean was about these things and didn't want to push it. Plus... Two hugs was kinda weird. He took a breath, trying to process that they was actually happening, and stepped back slightly. It had only been a brief second, but Dean had read him like an open book. There was a whole lot of wrong going on around them and Sam looked like he'd been taking the brunt for a while now ( ... )

How much could really happen in a few hours? At least, that was his first thought when Sam simply said "a lot" in that tone. Well, actually, a lot really could happen in a few hours, but that was beside the point.

He walked in when Sam stepped aside and looked around the motel room briefly taking stock of everything important before settling his gaze back on Sam. Confused wasn't sufficient enough to describe what he felt and how he looked. So he took a moment to think about what Sam had just said.

"You wanna run that by me again?"

That is what happens when you don't stay to listen enough of what the greeter had to say. All he knew was that they were on an island in Canada and the darkness was a nightly danger for a while. In his emotional state upon arriving on the baseball diamond, he hadn't actually thought through a lot of things in his quest to find Sam.

Sam closes the door, taking a quick peek outside to make sure Dean wasn't followed before answering. "Time doesn't work the same here as it does back home." Then he turns to face his brother.

"It might have been yesterday for you, but I've been here for.." He thinks, "Almost six months."

That really hits him. Six months. Christ. It's a wonder he's still alive with the way he's been going.

Sam can double-check all he wants, but Dean still managed to keep some of his wits and make sure nobody followed. But he wasn't concerned with that, more with what Sam was saying. He scratched the back of his neck and looked down at the ground while Sam was explaining in concentration, but then glanced back at him sharply when he said he's been here for six months. Well that explained the hug, but seriously, what?

"So, what? Canada got sucked into a worm hole and now it's stuck on-" Hell time, "-fast forward?"

"Um, yeah, something like that." It felt like a lame answer, but it was true. "Didn't the Greeter explain this to you?"

Not that he wasn't willing to go over it again and again, it was kinda their process anyway, but he wasn't sure what Dean already knew. And come to think of it, what time he was from.

That little realization sent a chill down his back. It was one thing to be from a different place in time than, say, Chuck or Castiel, but from his own brother? This could be seriously bad.

"Dean. What's the last thing you remember before waking up here?"

The greeter must have been that guy who tried to talk to him on that baseball diamond. Duh. His realization was obvious in his expression but then he cleared his throat.

"Right, the greeter. I kind of blew him off." He shrugged before shoving his hands in his pockets. "Because the last thing I was doing before I ended up here was going out to find you. So that felt like a higher priority." Then he removed one hand from his pocket to gesture with his pointer finger and a slight grin, "But I did gather that we are in the great country of Canada. Other than that and what that stinking darkness was last night, I know nothing."

In his defense, he didn't think that knowing more beyond those things was necessary at the time. He deals with supernatural crap so often, he was sure he could figure it out later like they always do.

Oh. Well. This was going to be a long conversation. Sam sighed with the air of 'typical Dean' and sat on the edge of his bed. The empty one, Cas' bed, free for Dean to lay claim upon. He started slowly, explaining the world, The Core, the Darkness. He touched on the sirens and their purpose, pausing every so often for Dean to ask a question or just stare at him like he had two heads ( ... )
