[ He's read the news, but thought nothing of it. The article on the murdered newcomer overshadowed the reports of tire thievery. Damian did not have much interest in chasing a tire thief, anyway. To put it blunt, they were small fry to him. Something the police force could handle instead. He had his eyes set on finding out more about that murder.

The first place he thought to look was the baseball diamond. It was the most obvious start, and thus he could not take it for granted. It was his first time going out in this modified costume. The bright colours of 'Robin' were now a dull black and yellow, and he's added a hooded cloak not unlike the one worn in his earlier days. The whole ensemble lacked much style, but that was obviously not a priority to him. His father told him to drop the bright colours for now, reasoning that it would attract bounty hunters. It wasn't like he was scared of them -- let them come -- a costume change just wasn't that big a deal ( ... )

[Jason's not all done up in his uniform and is just about to leave the diamond's parking lot with another pair of tires, one tucked under each arm as he moves along, hood up and hat on as he enters the streets of the rest of the sector. Then there's a sudden sight of color overhead and Jason glances up to see Damian's cape. Yellow. Robin.

Robin. And the figure was too small to be Carrie.

His heart dropped into his stomach before he could stop it, but continued and carried the tires into the nearest alley, depositing them in a dumpster to hide them for the time being.]

[ When Damian arrives at the parking lot, the mark of the tire thief is glaringly present. Several car were resting on miserable cinderblocks. This wasn't the one he was going after that night, but he did not mind a quick sidetrack. There is movement. It's hidden well, but there. Damian stops and listens, before finally concluding where it came. Take this guy down. Do it quickly. Get back to finding the killer. That was the plan.

He starts to make his way toward the alley, hoping from building to building once more. If Jason is still there when he arrives, Damian will tackle first, ask questions later. If he isn't, he will investigate what's in the dumpster. ]

[Jason is about to dart away when his jealousy and curiosity get the best of him, deciding that hesitating just a second or two could be beneficial. He didn't really meet Damian before, but this could be a whole new Robin in himself, some other Robin that Bruce didn't tell him about, another replacement.

So, he plays the dumb criminal act, loitering for a number of seconds, but prepared to react to an ambush.]

[ And an ambush is exactly what Jason shall receive. Damian cannot see his face, only the sides of his hoodie and pants, so he does not know who this is. To Damian, he was simply another one of the lowlifes he dealt with so often.

A grappling hook grabs hold of the railings above Jason, and Damian comes swinging in with his legs aimed for Jason's head. ]

[Jason sees that grappling hook and decides that maybe this is the time to use one of his homemade batarangs, test the thing out in the field, whether or not that's a good idea. So, he flicks it at Damian's line as he pivots, attempting to roll out of the way should the line cut.]

[ A batarang is something he did not expect. Especially one aimed at his line, rather than the less effective alternative of aiming it at his person. It does cut, and Damian is surprised, but he has a maneuver to break his fall. Now, he's curious, because not many knew how to throw a batarang.

He wasn't only curious, but he also had a keen interest in hearing the bones of this guy's face crack under his fist. Nobody cuts his line. ] You won't get so lucky this time.

[ Jason's face is still half-obscured, but Damian is more focused on taking him down. Now that they were both on ground level, he attempts to close the distance. ]

[Jason just smirks as he takes his stand and turns slowly, just as he gets a better glance at Damian. He's just a kid, even younger than he was when he met Bruce, but he can almost see the resemblance and that burns through him as he sets his stance, preparing for Damian to get in close.]

[ The closer he gets, the more defined Jason's features become, and it's not long before Damian recognises him. There were differences, of course. The most notable one was the hair. His hair was red the last time he saw him. This Jason also looked a little younger. These differences mattered little; he knows another supposed member of his 'family' when he sees one.

A punch comes impending as Damian speaks. ] I know who you are.

I know, surprise, I'm the Easter Bunny.

[Jason reached in and attempted to block the punch with his right forearm, aiming right in for the kid's chest, heel of his hand for the collarbone. Still, there's hesitation in his movements; this is a kid, even if he's a Robin.]

No. You're Jason Todd. [ The strike at his collarbone manages a wince out of him, and Damian is pushed back but not knocked off his feet just yet. Even so, he manages a smirk when he remembers those cinderblocks. ]

I knew you were pathetic before, but I didn't expect you to sink this low.

[Damian's step back spurs Jason on and he's quickly attempting to follow up the blow with an efficient shot with the side of his hand to the boy's larynx. But the chatter doesn't stop for a moment, despite the lectures Egon had given him on multiple occasions.]

Coming from you, that means nothing. [He really doesn't know Damian at all, but he just doesn't care.]

[ Damian isn't going to let a second strike to the upper torso pass. Spiked gloves block Jason's hand before they make contact, and Damian attempts a kick to the stomach. ]

Stealing tires? Really? I'm almost insulted to know you. [ The chatter continues on his side, too. Only because mocking his older brother is just so satisfying. ]

[Jason takes the blow to his stomach with a grunt as he does his best to just take it and attempt to use Damian's forward momentum to flip over him, to use the boy's short stature to his advantage. If he's successful, he'll attempt a kick to the boy's spine.]

You pampered piece of shit.

[ The base of Jason's shoe strikes Damian's lower vertebrae. It's
not enough to break it, but it's enough to throw the boy off his feet, his face
planting into the cement. He's trying his best to hide the wincing, however,
rubbing the trickle of blood flowing out of his nose onto his glove. ]

Tt. I will enjoy taking you down like all the other common thieves. [ Wobbling slightly, he struggles to get up. ]

[Despite getting a Robin off his feet, Jason doesn't take any particular pleasure from getting the better of a kid. It's an all-too-familiar picture of home, of Crime Alley, so, he takes a step back and gives Damian room if need be. There's nothing positive about kicking him while he's down, he has morals after all.]

Come at me, then, kid. [And goes back to his plainly defensive stance as if he were sparring instead of actually fighting. All he has to do is ignore the bright R on the boy's chest.

...easy, right?]
