[Echo had taken up to cooking for herself in the others in the area. It was probably the only 'servant type job' Echo was allowed to do. Of course this was Echo's time to break free and away from the life she had lived before. But when the Nightray household was all you knew and you've been a servant for as long as you can remember, well, old habits die hard.]
