Sector four street, late afternoon! tinderfoot August 22 2011, 02:30:38 UTC
[Tyrell had been going for a walk; he was between jobs again and thus found himself with a lot of free time on his hands. He missed his friends, he missed home, but what was he going to do about it? He was trapped in this place now, and in this place he was probably gonna have to stay. After all, all those people who knew more about this stuff -- people who had been deities back in their own worlds -- were trapped here. So what chance did a guy like him have?

This afternoon he's mainly people watching, but it can't keep him interested for long. He's far too restless.]

You should get up and do something!

[rather than being a spokesperson for an exercise ad, Shiroe's rocking on his own feet right behind Tyrell, smile as wide as possible and eyes zeroed in. his telepathy is delving right into the other's mind, regardless of the fact that some part of him knew it wasn't exactly a good idea to be so careless; but even without telepathy, it was obvious this boy wanted to move.]

[Shiroe didn't think too much of moving, right then, but he still did. moving meant distractions, right? right.]

[It feels like Psynergy he thinks, a split second before he hears the voice behind him. Sveta, maybe? Could it be someone from home? His hopes had risen without him even realizing it, so when he sees that it's some strange boy he'd never seen before speaking instead, his immediate reaction is disappointment.

Then he starts to freak out. Who is this guy -- why is he looking at him like that? Why is he even speaking, and what does he mean by that, anyway? Tyrell takes an unconscious step backwards, shaking his head, trying to figure out if he was imagining things -- it had almost felt like there had been somebody in there.

The kid's still there, looking at him, and yeah. It's still freaky.]

Hey! What do you think you're doing?!

hhrg sorry for the late! zealouspeter August 27 2011, 18:40:27 UTC
[Psynergy? might be whispered, ghosted, murmured back; a curious lilt to it, a curious projection, and Shiroe really needed to get a hold back on his powers. but his head was pounding, his stomach was hurting, his skin was burning, and if he focused in on someone else, they generally weren't in as much sick-feeling pain as he was.]

[this kid, especially. so much emotion, so much feedback - you should be a Mu (another absent, accidental projection) - and the other seemed to have some awareness of what was happening, which was a bad thing if Shiroe thought about it but a good thing if he didn't.]

[so, he didn't. instead, he beamed and replied rather matter-of-factly:] I'm talking to you.

I am sorry for my even later late! ;; tinderfoot September 1 2011, 09:30:24 UTC
[Bewildered, Tyrell turns his head to glance behind where he's standing, in what almost feels like slow motion, as though he's expecting to see someone else there, someone else who is this boy's intended target. But there's no-one behind him, just this freaky kid standing there with a smile on his face like they've met before or something. Maybe they have and he just can't remember it? But, nah, he would remember a weirdo like this one.

After another disbelieving look over his shoulder, he realizes he actually needs to address this guy who seems to be talking to him, for some reason or another.]

Listen, I don't think I'm who you're looking for.

No, you are. Remember what I said before: 'you should get up and do something.' You're really restless, right?

[this was all matter-of-factly, plainly, with him not budging an inch or twitching a limb. but then he blinks, shoulders drooping a bit, and maybe - maybe? - he looks a bit less creepy, since he's suddenly furrowing his eyebrows curiously at the other.]

There's no one else around like that right now, is there?

[Even with the change in the freaky guy's posture, Tyrell still finds himself severely weirded out. And when the kid all but admits to having read his mind, he takes another step backwards, his fingers balling into angry fists. He can feel his Psynergy flare outwards, his hands staring to heat up, but he forces himself to control his temper, reminds himself of what his friends back home would say if they could see him now. Even though Tyrell kinda wishes he could, he can't just set this kid on fire because he looked at him funny, especially if he doesn't know for sure if this weirdo can defend himself or not. Just because he has magic of some sort - the mind reading thing- it doesn't make him a fighter.

In the end he shifts his weight from foot to foot and sticks his arms behind his head once his hands have cooled down a bit. All in all, he's doing his best to fake nonchalance, although his voice still comes out rough and angry:]

I dunno, I'm not the one walking around reading minds. You tell me.

[he wouldn't have to have telepathy to see that the other was itching for a fight-- it was screamed in his tone, his body language, his everything, and okay, maybe it helped that Shiroe could pluck out the fact that the other was imagining a fight in his mind right then helped some, but really, he wasn't a good liar. at least, Shiroe didn't think so.]

[so when he went and said that, Shiroe came to realize he still had enough sense left in his head to blink and straighten up. immediately try to pull back his powers, too, not that he could; something about seeing floating fish and hearing imaginary calls was keeping him from grabbing onto his abilities, the threads of control now noticeably slipping through his mental hands and that was not good, and, oh, his stomach was hurting again--]

How'd you know that?

[stupid question, very stupid question, but he suddenly couldn't think enough to get past that. if he was more aware, he'd realize he hadn't been thinking that far the entire day. it was just now that it was obvious.]

[This kid didn't realize, then, that Tyrell had powers too? That annoys him, annoys him so much that he's feeling his hands heat up again. It's not on purpose, at least not at the start, but Tyrell tries to pretend he has the situation under control. He lets a fireball -- but only a little one -- form in the palm of his right hand -- his intent is obvious. Look what I can do.]

I felt it, didn't I? I could feel you using your magic on me. [The psynergy in his hands is pulsating now, and is begging to be discharged somewhere. Regretfully realizing that he still can't justify pummelling this boy, Tyrell aims the mini fireball at his feet and lets go. It's warm, sure, but he's a Fire Adept, and that status at least comes with some fire resistance.] Anyway, if you're trying to play dumb you're really bad at it, so I'm gonna ask you one last question: do I know you?

Magic-- psy--?

[except that last term was something he hadn't said outloud, and Shiroe belatedly clamped down on it as fast as he could, which was pretty fast given the fact that a fireball was being offered as a distracted.]

[needless to say, the other had the Mu's complete and utter attention.]

[he swiftly side-stepped when the fire hit the ground, eyes wide right where it'd landed. it might've been small, yes, but that combined with the fact that the other knew and - something was going grievously wrong, Shiroe now thought.]

[he looked up, shoulders hunched and hands curling on his shirt's hem; and yet, still, he managed to look vaguely confused.] No. No, I don't think so.

Or... we never met in person. Until now, obviously.

[Tyrell's glad that's the boy's been watching him -- no sense in showing off without an audience. And now he'd been warned of what Tyrell's capabilities; it's a nice feeling, being capable. When he speaks now, his voice is less angry, more arrogant:]

Oh, so you've been watching me?

zealouspeter September 8 2011, 00:05:39 UTC
[that makes him blink, his shock moving slowly into amusement. it's vague as is, though.]

[this is still honestly confused, nonetheless:] Have I? You're...

[a beat.]

Tyrell.

[a head tilt.]

Have we talked?

Nah, I don't think so. Think I would remember somebody like you.

[Like he even needs to ask; did some people seriously not realize how weird he was. Not to mention he knew Tyrell's name despite them never having spoke before.]

You just seem like the kinda guy who would leave an impression, is all I'm saying. Do you do to this everyone you've just met?

zealouspeter September 9 2011, 05:24:26 UTC
... No. [furrowed eyebrows, and an even tighter grasp on his stomach.] No. I never do... this--

- How did you know I was doing that? [eyes up, over to him, only slightly wavering - and then correcting,] Doing this. Most people can never tell.

[and then, as if it's a crime Tyrell committed against him personally:]

But you're not a telepath.
