He usually didn't take mornings off from work, but he'd been working day in and day off for too long. He needed a break. He was sitting a cafe outside in the early morning and waiting for some breakfast. He had a coffee in hand and was sipping it leisurely, trying to wake up. His first day off to himself in a while, Riku decided to go for a run earlier, just after siren, and then ended up here to get some food before he went home.

When the waitress came back to his table, she told him it would be another ten minutes; a crowd had shown up and they wanted to-go orders. He knew the girl well enough that it didn't matter to him if she took her time. He just nodded and smiled.

He could nurse his coffee for a little while longer. When he raised it once more to his lips, he noticed Naoya walking nearby. He lifted his head. "Morning."

"...Morning." It took Naoya a moment or two to place Riku-they'd only spoken once over the network, but he'd interested the older man. Naoya managed something resembling a smile, stopping to look over at Riku...ah. That silver hair was quite remarkable...and a little too familiar.

"Just out for a drink this morning?"

Riku, for his part, never forgot a face. Especially when it came attached to silver hair. With Yazoo, Kadaj, Xemnas, and Ansem in the city, having silver hair had its stigma. He hated that part. Naoya had done nothing to add to the problem, thankfully, and so Riku didn't feel the need to be cautious around the man just yet.

"Waiting for breakfast, actually. I thought I'd treat myself this morning." He shrugged. "Out for a walk?"

'Yet' was the keyword there, Riku. Naoya smirked, tilting his head to the side. Well, he could use this, too.

"I just felt a need to be outside, that's all."

He nodded. He had recently gone on a camping trip with his friends but even now...he needed his own space. He understood that.

"Want to take a seat? You can order whatever you'd like."

"I'd hate to impose..." The real trick to lying, Naoya knew, was to make yourself believe it. In his case, all he had to was remember a time he had been genuine in his manners, without motive or agenda. It was easy as breathing.

"But I'd be happy to join you."

"You're not." He still would have to wait here, of course, for his breakfast to be made and if there's company, he might as well stay here until he finishes it. Of course, that hinged on Naoya. He shrugged.

He gestured with his hand to the seat across from him at the small table. "How's the city been treating you so far?"

He does take a seat, crossing one leg over the other and only vaguely glancing at the menu. They carried something suitably sweet, no doubt, he'd make do.

"As well as can be expected. I've found ways to keep myself busy, but I admit there's a terrible sense of...normalcy. If I'm going to be forcibly dragged to another dimension, could it at least be a little different than things were at home?"

He chuckled quietly, sipping his coffee. Siren's Port was really like any other city, to his mind. There wasn't so much that was specially about it beyond the Darkness and besides the companies. But even the latter was just a form of corruption and every world had that.

"Are things that normal for you here? That's a shame."

"Perhaps the standards I'm used to are a bit higher than most." The superpowers, the summoning, even the reality of multiple worlds...it took quite a lot to surprise Naoya, that was true.

"I'll live, I just suppose I was expecting something more...grandiose."

He shrugged loftily once more. "Maybe you're not hanging out with the right people." Even Riku had never known so much Light to be in one lion, or for demons to really exist. But that begged a question of his companion.

"What's your world like, then?"

"Complicated. On the surface, it's a little more...droll. People go throughout their entire lives without knowing anything more than their own personal worlds." He leaned his chin in his hand, eyes closing. It was an oversimplified version of the truth, but it suited him.

"Underneath, the world is full of all sorts of strange things. They're all grouped under the name 'demon', but many of them are old gods, and it's really only a few select groups that are truly malevolent. Anyone with the knowledge and the will can summon them."

Demons. That was a new one. The only demons he knew existed in the Port were the ones in the Phantomhive Manor and he had stayed clear of them. But these were gods, he said, and not really malevolent. It was a strange concept, all in all.

"It sounds interesting." A little exciting, too. "And you can't do any of that here? Was it something only connected to your world?"
