While Billy was excited about having an actual Danger Room in their basement, it would still be a while before it was completed. And training was something that just couldn't wait, especially after... certain things that had happened. He really wanted to work on control and see if there was a limit on what he could do. He knew by now that the Core prevented some things and dampened others from working but his powers weren't completely gone. He'd never really trained and worked alongside someone with Julian's power so he was curious to see how things would turn out.

Teleporting in above the building, Billy looked down and saw Julian waiting below. With a grin, he flew down and landed in front of his friend. "Hey. Ready to get this going?"

Julian looked up and grinned a welcome when he saw Billy floating down. He'd never worked with anyone who had Billy's power either, so this was going to be interesting. He didn't really have any clue what Billy could even do. Manipulation of reality could mean a lot of things. He pushed the door open, heading inside and holding it open.

"Hey," he said. "You bet I am. You tell anyone you were coming here? Cause I kind of didn't mention it, just in case. Where do you wanna start?"

Billy ducked inside after him, hoping the building would hold up with the patch job he'd given it. "I left at note at home. Not really a good idea to go off on your own without letting someone know about it here," he said, looking around at the inside again. "Uh. I'm not really sure. I guess... maybe we should list off all the stuff we can do first? I'm not much of a leader type person."

Julian turned to close the door, using the locking of it as an excuse to avoid that part about telling people before he went off somewhere. He could see the logic in that, but whatever. He’d be fine. He turned back, shrugging a little.

“You don’t want to lead?” This surprised Julian. Most people he’d worked with would’ve jumped at that chance. Except Surge, who had then been made leader because Emma Frost had an evil sense of humor. “I guess I am. I led my training squad back in the day.” That seemed a very long time ago now. “I don’t know about…stuff I can do. I’m telekinetic, I can do the usual. Shields, flight, moving. If we’re talking limits, I don’t know. Never tried to lift something and failed. What about you?”

"More or less the same thing. I mean, there's been a few times where I haven't been able to do something quickly enough... or times when things haven't worked exactly..." When Teddy's mom died and when he was being tortured came to mind. "But I don't really know my limit either. I didn't know you led a training squad." He looked a bit curious about that.

"It was a while back," Julian said. He frowned a little, thinking about it. It had been on his mind pretty much since he'd arrived here, mainly because of Kevin. "Before M-Day. Xavier's had so many students that we got split into squads, under a mentor. Emma Frost was mine. That's why Hellion's my codename...after her other students." He shrugged. "Then she named her squad the Hellions and made me leader. It was a good team. All changed after M-Day. Everything did. Do you know Kevin, my roommate? Cause, he was on that team. Actually, far as he knows, he still is. He got yanked here from before M-Day even happened."

Billy shook his head. "No, I wasn't really aware he was even here," he confessed. "Yeah... Jubilee is from before then too. And Zayde, if I'm remembering right."

“Yeah, I figured that.” He shrugged. “Jubilee still has her powers. “Far as I’d heard, M-Day changed that. And…Magneto, I don’t know. I hadn’t mentioned it just in case.”

He looked around the hall then, trying to work out where was the best place to start.

“You think we should start with testing limits? You said you were worried about blacking out before. What does that to you? Can we test that?”

Billy gave a sheepish awkward grin. "To test it, we'd need to make me get like really seriously upset about something. Iiii don't think that's a good idea. I just..." He shrugged a little. "My mind just goes blank. The first time nobody really knew what happened either because there was this big flash of light, I guess... Like an explosion went off... The second time, nobody else was really around."

Julian frowned at this. That was dangerous not only because of what it could do, but because of the way it happened. Blanking out meant Billy had no control over it at all.

“Okay so what do you remember from right before you blanked out? Can you build up power like that again and try to…I don’t know, hold it there, before it gets too much?”

He had no idea whether he was even using the right language for all this.

"Well..." Billy looked down at the ground. "Uhm, I was really scared and terrified and angry because someone was trying to kill Teddy in a way that could actually kill him... and the second time was when Tommy was dying and there was nothing I could do... I don't think I could build that up... I mean, I could work myself up thinking about it but I don't think I could get it that far unless... something bad was actually happening."

Julian watched Billy for a minute in silence. The thing about this was, he totally understood. When you were protecting people you cared about, you’d go to any lengths to do it. The problem is that Billy’s powers seem to have a way of taking over. It’s more than just losing control.

“Okay so you need to command it without that whole…emotional part,” he said, folding his arms. “What do you usually do in a fight? You said you could alter reality, but if someone was attacking you, what’d be your first line of defence?”
