Sonya always prided herself on being practical and surviving: she just thought it strange that it would mean surviving in a city that-on a level-reminded her too much of Outworld to be too comfortable. If it wasn't the two 'warring' corporations, it was the Darkness and the creatures that came with it.
This was even more apparent at night, with the Siren's going off, and Sonya eventually succumbing to sleep that would never seem to leave her fully rested. She had to remind herself that she was no longer in Outworld, that there were no guards about to drag her to Shang Tsung or the Shadow priests. She had to remind herself that thanks to Xavier's loan (of which she fully intended to pay back as soon as she found a job), she now had a few basic articles of clothing, first aide, some honest-to-goodness real food, and even a fighting knife (strange that she felt almost vulnerable without even a small weapon). Hell, even the apartment she found herself with, as bare as it was, it was a ways from the small cell she'd been 'living in.'
Neither of that however, meant that Sonya could get a decent nights sleep, and it was just after midnight that found her curled up in bed, still having to sleep on her side as the lash wounds on her back had yet to heal. As the AC unit in the apartment was never 'just right', the collar of the t-shirt she'd slept in was now sticking around her neck from sweat-or it may have just been a result from nightmares, it was hard to say.
