[When she peeks inside one of the music rooms, there will be Jack...making paper cranes out of sheet music. Yep.]

[Yes, that's perfectly a good use of one's time. She slips into the music room and watches him a moment before she interrupts.]

Don't you think that's a waste of paper?

No, not really. This is scratch paper, see?

[He holds a sheet up, and the notes on it are crossed out and redrawn.]

[She peers at it curiously.]

...You're a composer?

[cruelwonder]

[If Gilbert thought he was alone, he'd be wrong. She has no idea what he's smacking at and she wanders over, one thin eyebrow raised. She watches him strike the thing several times before she speaks up.]

That doesn't look a wise thing to do at all.

[cruelwonder]

[Quite the nervous sort, isn't he? For the moment, she keeps that opinion to herself, looking him over. Her hands instinctively settle on her hips.]

I'm not really visiting, I suppose. Rabbit's asked the Earl to let me live here.

[two days later and you'd think he would still be holing up in his room. but no-- the Month That Shouldn't Have Been left many things unchecked, little personal scopes that Shiroe had evidently (though he'd thought differently) only set up for his own personal curiosity.]

[as such, he's a boy with a box, a winged lizard clinging to his head as he ran down this hallway and that, stopping occasionally to fiddle with the wall panels or mentally check to see if anyone was approaching. when he brushed against someone completely foreign, well - new curiosity sprung up, and pretty soon the boy was leaving his box of electrical trinkets behind to round a corner and run smack-dab into a girl.]

[that hadn't been entirely intentional.]

[he stumbled back, Kensington making a few distressed chirping noises as the bumpy ride made clinging that much more difficult, before straightening up and-- looking up.]

[... well.]

[She feels someone crash into her back and she whips around in surprise, eyes fixing on his. It takes some effort not to go for the blade that's tucked neatly and cleverly hidden in the folds of her skirt, but the boy seems harmless enough.

Alice is not very tall, and so he comes up to her shoulder easily. She stares at him curiously.]

Rushing off somewhere?

... Kind of.

[she might not be much taller, but he still takes his time to meet her eyes. blinks into them for one moment, and then breaks into a smile at the very next.]

You're new here, huh? What's your name?

[cruelwonder]

[She nods, looking him over. She adjusts her dress a little unconsciously.]

Alice. Alice Liddell. And you?

[ rabbit was.. taking care of the rabbits, but he catches up to her afterward. in the manor, he's discarded his hat and sword-- she's safe here. and even if she's not, rabbit isn't the innocent he used to be: he's perfectly capable of protecting her if need be. ]

.. It's not quite as large as the Queen's palace, of course, but I get lost here, sometimes. The real world still confuses me.

[ he offers a faint, somewhat rusty smile, as if he hasn't smiled in a long time and he's still remembering how to do so. ]

[She's never one to not want his company but she didn't want to bother him. There was a lot to explore, after all. When he finds her, she gives him a faint smile that matches his own, gaze fond.]

No, certainly not as large as her kingdom. I do think I prefer it that way.

[She nods.]

A little odd but no one seems unfriendly. What's strange to you here, Rabbit? [Her smile grows just a little.] The lack of creatures and blooms?

[Truth be told, she missed Wonderland.]

Things don't make much sense here. The rules and all. [ rabbit, after all, was born and raised in wonderland-- it all makes perfect sense to him in all its nonsensical nature. the real world, on the other hand, is occasionally just bizarre to his way of thinking. ] .. But it is strange not having familiar things around me.

[ he brightens, then. ]

No, everyone's quite friendly, for the most part. Definitely strange, though. --None of the other rabbits, for instance, have a single waistcoat to their names. [ his expression takes on a scandalized note. ] Completely uncivilized.

Yes, it's a shame. Things are so much easier in Wonderland. [Easier to manipulate, easier to get around, and decidedly more pleasant...on a good day.] There are parks around, though. I suppose they'll have to do.

[Her smiles widens a little more.]

Perhaps they should be fitted for them. I was told that there's another girl here named Alice, too, but they call her a rabbit. Do you know of her?
