In the time that she had been out of the hospital and on her own, she had found that she had too much time to speak of. Without work overtaking her life, she had next to nothing to do and she didn't want to speak with anyone. The week prior had been stressful and only a few people were privy to the details. She didn't want to talk about it. She didn't want people to know what it had done to her ( ... )

Liquid didn't look around at first. It took a surprising amount of willpower for him to turn and face her, after what he'd done to her. He had betrayed the one moral he had sworn to never break, broken his mind open yet further and still his mind was ravaged with guilt and despair over it. He was no better than that man. Yet despite that, he turned and met her eyes unflinchingly. His pride would allow no less.

He rested one hand on his waist, his posture naturally non-threatening. He meant her no ill, after all.

He wondered faintly what this meant for his promise to protect Shinji and Kazuhiko, for him to do something like this. Meeting with a woman who likely would want them imprisoned for life even now was not really a good thing to be doing. But he was tired. The stress and emptiness of these past weeks had weighted heavily on him and although he knew full well he could keep going, he knew even more that it would not end well if he did. "No, it's fine. You're right on time," he answered quietly.

In truth, she expected no less. Liquid was a proud man and she didn't think he would ever allow himself not to face an opponent, a victim, or anyone else without that sort of gaze. She was much the same.

Re-l did not come too close. The sun was hidden behind the clouds and so she had full access to her powers. She could easily get up to him and break him down. The both of them were unarmed. Instead, she treated him like an equal who deserved her attention for now, even if her stomach curdled at the memory of what he - and the others - did to her.

Maybe she would never get over it.

She shrugged. "You said you wanted to know about your options." She looked over at the creek for a moment, collecting her thoughts. "You've told me some things about your past, about the fact that you were bred as a soldier." She frowned. "I think that it's possible for you to receive a lesser sentence if it's understood that you need therapy and help."

Liquid started at those words. staying silent for a long moment. It was an unpleasant thought. For years now, Liquid had shied away from medical or mental health treatment. He had tended his own wounds when necessary, ignored them if not and given no thought to his mind ( ... )
