[She hadn't been allowed anywhere near the operating room (in fact she'd been all but booted out), so, not knowing what else to do, Maya had returned to the room]
[There was no one to be strong for; no one to put on a brave face for. So, instead, Maya was pacing around the room nervously, fidgeting with her hands on top of that. How long had it been? Five minutes? No, it had to be longer than that... it felt more like five hours]
[After another few minutes of pacing, Maya flopped down in a chair - her hands still worrying together. Not knowing what was happening was killing her...]
