Earl Ciel Phantomhive was to be Franziska's first witness in this trial; it was still decidedly odd, she decided, to have to speak to someone she had started to grow fond of in this sort of situation, in what had always, in the past, been a professional environment. Yet, as a witness he would serve his role well; his age certainly would help convince the jury of the point she was making while not serving to be a detriment in any other way; he was mature enough to handle this, she reassured herself -- people always had a habit of underestimating children, and she knew better than to make that mistake. She was, after all, the Prodigy, who had become a prosecuting attorney at thirteen years of age.

"The prosecution calls Earl Ciel Phantomhive to the stand."

He'd made sure to dress appropriately for the occasion, not that he was ever under dressed to begin with as Ciel sat beside Alois, waiting to be called to the stand to give his testimony. He'd never been in a courthouse before, thus it was a completely new experience for the young boy as he sat quietly.

When he was called he stood up, straight and poised as he moved to take the stand, ready to testify.

While witnesses were usually sequestered before the trial, it had not been feasible to do so to these two boys, as they lived, and, indeed, had been kidnapped together. Franziska's gaze as Ciel took the stand was not focused on him, but instead, the jury, looking to see their reactions; it was important that she had them thinking what she wanted right from the very beginning of this case to its inevitable conclusion.

"Please state your name and age for the court."

"My name is Ciel Phantomhive and I am thirteen years of age." He replied evenly, gaze straight ahead at the audience in the courtroom. His hands were set neatly at his sides as he stood, ready to continue.

With another look at the jury to see if they were following along, Franziska continued. "And how are you related to the case currently at trial?"

"I was one of the kidnapped and sacrifices for the cult."

Franziska had never met this friend of Ciel's before; indeed, she had only first spoken to him after her meeting with Ciel and he had mentioned the other boy in his statements to her. Yet, now it was Alois who would be brought to the stand; he too would be a useful witness, as the information he had delivered had focused on different details of the case than many others. Indeed, with Alois, she could further establish the cult's motivations -- a necessary task, considering how foolish, nonsensical and misguided said motivations were.

"The prosecution calls Earl Alois Trancy to the stand."

It had taken a few hours and perhaps a fit, and undoubtedly a great deal of sulking, but Ciel had managed to wrangle Alois into clothing more suitable for this type of thing; Ciel had supposed the court would be displeased with Alois' habit of baring his thighs, and so the boy wore knee-length shorts, and was dressed somberly in black and white. His shoulders were taut and his jaw was tight; speaking in front of a court was manageable, Alois figured, but watching Ciel's testimony had ignited enough fury that it was difficult to keep down. His knuckles were white from the clenching of his fists, and he chewed on his lower lip.

Looking at the defendant, he realized that he'd never before wanted to bash in a woman's skull so much as he did this woman- and that included his oft-tormented maid Hannah. It wouldn't be too difficult, he thought. Surely-

He was called to the stand, and rose to take his place. Passing Ciel, Alois swallowed, and made his way there.

Again, Franziska's gaze skirted over the jury as Alois was taking his place at the stand. So far, everything was going well enough according to plan, and she would sure that they kept going on in such a way.

"Please state your name and age for the court."

"My name is Alois Trancy. I'm fifteen years old." Calmly stated, but with a hint of detachment; his hands were folded in front of himself. He looked at either the jury nor the defendant.

"And what is your relation to to this case?" From that point, with the absolute basics established, they could move on.

It wasn't a difficult question to answer, but it was a difficult answer to phrase.

"I was kidnapped and... assaulted."

That would cover it, right? Though Alois felt like 'assault' didn't fully cover it. He frowned, and looked at his hands.

While assault was not the precise term Franziska would have used for what the captives had endured, it was enough to set up the rest of the testimony without the defense wasting needless time complaining about supposed leading questions. "Where were you when the initial kidnapping took place?"

"A little store. We were at the mall and we went into a little store. The man running shop- sedated us? Numbed us, or something. And gave us away."

There was a further edge of discomfort, here, as he recalled the sickened twisting in his chest, and the blanket of guilt along with it. He stayed still, however.

They really had worked quite efficiently, hadn't they, to be able to so effectively capture a wide variety of people. However, that just made it all the more easier to prove that the perpetrators were a clear threat to society. "And what happened once that effect wore off?"
