It had taken Teddy longer then he thought it would to navigate himself and Billy to the spot where they would meet Franz. For starters they ended up getting lost in a crowd and had their direction thrown off and then Teddy had to try and remember the name of the place they were going. So he was pretty relieved when he looked down the street and caught sight of Franz.

"Hey! Sorry we're late. Got kinda turned around for a minute."

Billy was curious to meet this person that Teddy had told him about. He was glad to know that Teddy had made at least some friends here, besides people from their own world.

Billy let Teddy led the way, being slightly amused when he got lost, but they found their way eventually so all was well in the end. When Teddy called out to someone, Billy gave him a quick look over, smiling and lifting a hand in greeting at the same time. "Hi."

"Good afternoon," Franz said pleasantly, offering a handshake to Teddy and then Billy. This was the weirdest part of the 21st Century for him (aside from blue jeans and burgers), the casual manner in which people made their introductions. However, he had been in Siren's Port for many months now, observing others as he always did, making a very effective effort to blend in up until the time he started glowing - though that wasn't even the worst of it.

"Teddy, right? And you must be... Billy? I hope it wasn't too strange I asked you out here like this, I'm trying to make more friends my age and ah, Dr. Xavier thought we might get along." Getting advice on his social life from his physician probably wasn't going to win Franz any cool points, but he believed in honesty. "It's good to meet with you both."

"It's great to finally talk to you in person. I'm still getting used to having most of my conversations over the NV. Though I guess it's not that different from having a cell phone." He accepts the handshake and then moves towards the door, holding it open for the both of them.

"So, Franz, still is your first time eating at a place like this right?"

OOC: My bad, it's Billy's turn now! Sorry about that, I completely spaced out.

Billy shook Franz's hand. "Billy, right. Nice to meet you too. I feel you on the 'having friends my own age' thing.

As he walked through the door, giving a quick smile at Teddy in thanks, he turned around to raise an eyebrow at their new friend. "Never? Seriously? You're life is not complete unless you have had a cheeseburger and french fries."

"Seriously! Not only have I never had a cheeseburger, I didn't have a cell phone when I arrived here. Somehow I've managed to come from a future where there's space travel, but nothing but haute cuisine and snail mail." Franz sighed dramatically. A lot could happen in three thousand years, even assuming his history was the same as this world's, of which there was little guarantee. He knew for certain his world wasn't the same as the world of mutants, for instance. "I didn't realize I'd been living a half-life up until now, though. You'll have to rectify this. I'll leave the ordering to you two."

"That's strange. You'd think if people have figured out space travel they'd have cracked cell phones and the internet." He glances at the menu boards before turning back to them. "Is a cheeseburger with fries and a drink okay with you?" He asks Franz. "Oh, maybe we should throw in a milkshake. Have you ever had a milkshake before?" He grins before turning to Billy. "What do you want?"

"Maybe they did?" Billy put in with a shrug. "If you're from really far in the future, maybe cell phones and the internet are just a thing of the past. Like 8-tracks. And cheeseburgers aren't exactly the most healthy thing to eat... but they're really good," he added to not discourage Franz from trying one.

He peered at the menu. "Milkshake could be a good dessert?" Billy suggested. "Cheeseburger with fries and a chocolate milkshake sounds delicious for me."

"Three thousand years, to be exact. As for healthy food - French cuisine is all about cheese and cream sauces. I'm not all that concerned about that aspect. I run around for work so much I've actually lost a little weight since I came here." That was probably also due to how often he skipped meals, but Franz wasn't about to give away that little indiscretion. "So, cheeseburgers, milkshakes and fries for all of us?" Franz went ahead and paid - he had said he would, after all. The cheapness of the food was readily apparent, and while it made Franz slightly concerned about the quality of the ingredients, he understood why the food must've become popular with youths.

"I suppose we should find a table now," Franz said, looking over the plastic, brightly-lit restaurant. It seemed to be made to be easy to clean and rush people through, but in spite of its lack of atmosphere groups of kids could be seen hanging around.

"That sounds like a busy job. You have to make sure you take care of yourself. This stuff might not be the best food but it's quick and easy." He picks up his tray of food from the counter and looks around before spotting an empty table by a window in the back. "How about there?" He asks while making his way over to the table.

Once they're seated at the table, Teddy begins to pick at his fries and looks at Franz curiously. "So, what is it you do exactly?"

"Three thousand years?" Billy said in slight surprise. That was farther along then Nathaniel had been. "Things must be really different for you here."

He thanked Franz for paying then let Teddy pick the table, sitting down and taking a sip of the milkshake. "Mmmm, good," he said in approval.

"Socially, it seems my world more resembles the one of Earth's 19th Century compared to the 21st. I was very surprised about some of the trends here... not just blue jeans, but the lack of aristocracy. Anyone can marry anyone they like here, regardless of gender or social status. It's refreshing, but to someone like me, whose existence was defined by my duties to my barony, well, it's been interesting ( ... )

"So you're a baron in your world?" His eyebrows raise in surprise. "Impressive." He grins and glances towards Billy. "And we thought our family situations were interesting." He takes a couple of huge bites out of his burger before noticing the neat way Franz was eating. His cheeks flush slightly in embarrassment as he makes himself slow down.

"That's...a big list of things. You must keep pretty busy." He sips some of his milkshake. "I think you mentioned that before. That people get powers when they come here. So how does yours work exactly? Do you light up when someone is lying or something?"

The more Billy listened to Franz talk about the future he came from, the more Billy hoped that it wasn't going to happen to them. Not that he would be around to see it, but still, the thought of certain things going backwards instead of continuing to press forward until everyone was treated equally wasn't very comforting. But they weren't here to talk about that so Billy kept it to himself ( ... )

Franz shook his head, looking a little shy. He simply couldn't eat with big bites like that or overdo it, he'd only hear his mother in his head threatening to make him practice cutting meat with a book on his head, or any other number of embarrassing things.

"It's not so impressive. My father was a baron, and when he died, I became a baron."

Franz took a few more bites, trying with more gusto, but it still didn't seem quite right. He took a few sips of the overwhelmingly sweet milk shake.

"I do all of it by myself. I have plenty of free time - enough to study, and walk my dog, and... ah, attend my social life. Sleeping. I sleep a lot. Y'see, the glowing and sensing the truth? They don't seem to be directly linked. The glow reflects my emotions, but the truth stuff? It causes me pain. Whenever someone tells a lie, I feel pain. If it's small, it feels like a little pinch. If it's big, it hurts a lot more. This accumulates until I get huge migraines."
