[Re-l arrives just after five, already unbuckling her coat a little as she's met with the warm air of the cafe. She looks around and smiles at Didi for a moment just before she catches sight of the prosecutor. She brushes her hair over her shoulder and heads over to his table.]

Afternoon. How are you?

[That uneasy smile goes away as she arrives and sits down. He wears his usual grin, reaching into his briefcase.]

Can't complain. I brought you something.

[He pulls out a small package of coffee grounds, that custom blend she liked.]

Ms. Death was nice enough to turn her head at my sneaking in my own brew, but you said you were going to be needing some more.

[She smiles when he takes out a package of coffee grounds, chuckling softly.]

Thank you. It's a really good flavor. I use it on those mornings that I can't seem to get myself up.

[Which seems to be almost every morning, these days.]

Which grinder did this come out of?

Her name's Raquelle. [He just grins at the question.]

[He raises his hand to call over one of the waitresses for Re-l... and to order himself another three cups of his current Turkish. After the waitress leaves he strikes up conversation.]

I guess it goes without saying that work's been busy lately.

Thank her for me too, I suppose.

[She orders something mild. She might want to go flying tonight, after all, but then she turns back to him. She nods.]

There was an incident two days before and one of the criminals I brought in was released yesterday.

[He sips his coffee. It's, as always, impossible to read the expression on his face, but by now Re-l might be getting better about reading the little quirks in his eternal smile.]

What happened? If you don't mind talking shop, of course.

[She shrugs, setting her chin in her palm.]

I was walking Mr. Edgeworth home and a common thief took him. I caught up to them some blocks away, but... Well, the damage was done. He's fine and he didn't lose anything, before you ask.

[His lip quirks a bit at the corner.]

Ha...! Imagine that. Stolen prosecutors. [Siiip.] This city just keeps on getting stranger and stranger.

Edgeworth needs to find some less dangerous hobbies.

[She quirks her lips into something of a scowl, the expression not really aimed for him.]

Yes, well. We were just walking from the office and the thug thought he was rich enough to have money to spare.

Hmm. [Siiip.]

Never boring, this career in law enforcement, is it?

It keeps me on my toes, that's for sure.

[The waitress comes back with Re-l's drink and the young woman thanks her, cupping her hands around the white mug.]

Always tiring, though. But so is most anything worth pursuing.

Ha...! [Yes, a nice light roast she's got there... with a hint of vanilla.]

You couldn't be more right. I suppose even when you spend the day doing paperwork, it's all for some kind of greater good.

[He pauses thoughtfully.] That's probably the reason I stuck with it for as long as I have.

[She nods, eventually pulling the mug up to take a mild sip, carefully of how hot it is for the moment.]

It wouldn't surprise me. And, of course, the easier things in life are always the ones that lead to trouble.

Well now... there's potholes on both the high road and the low road. It's the speed you take the turns at that'll make you or break you.

That's one of my rules. [Siiiip.]

How many rules do you have, anyway? Could you make a book of them?

I could, but it'd have to be a yearly edition. They seem to come and go. [What he really means is he changes them to suit the situation as he sees fit.]
