Who: thelittlestbub and YOU When: March 3rd - 6th Where: HoA, specifically, her bedroom Summary: Jubilee is home, and people are coming to visit Warnings: Probably not beyond swearing, but I'll update as needed.
He waited sometime until the others had time to visit her before he made an attempt. Mostly, he'd been busy back at work, because he had been taking far too many days off between Jubilee disappearing and the Core-cult message. Mostly, he'd been hired and disappeared and well, that wasn't going to get him promoted out of his residency any time soon. And they needed money, badly.
Dressed casually after getting home (meaning sweat clothes, because he's been too lazy to make his own lately and is stealing Magneto's), knowing most every one was out of the house but unsure of Erik was home or working, he made his way to Jubilee's room and knocked lightly. A pause before he spoke. He hadn't really talked with her since she came back. Other than having about four heart-attacks and an aneurysm over he network message.
"C'mon in." Jubilee was working on some cross stitch that she'd gotten a couple months ago and hadn't had time to work on yet. Or, really, the ability to sit still. However, since she was stuck....
She looked up and immediately put the cross stitch down. "Hey Chuck."
Jubilee hadn't called him that in years, but Logan had started it when she'd first arrived at the mansion.
As he entered he kept his face from twitching at the sight of her sitting - very discomforting - and found his brow raise when she called him Chuck.
"Throw yourself into more reckless situations and I fear you'll start growing claws, as well." Omit the more obvious traits that Wolverine was in the room. He waved his hand. "Forgive me, I didn't come to pick." His voice became a few notches softer. Over the course of the week, he'd found himself losing the familiar tone, and feeling, that was associated with Professor X. His eyes looked dull and his face heavily worn. When he did sleep, he was fighting off nightmarish memories of Sander Cohen's life experiences.
With a sigh he came to sit in a chair across the bed. "Other than plotting escape from the confines of your room, how are you feeling?"
"Pfft." Jubilee made a waving motion with one hand. "All I need is the healing factor and I'd be totally cool."
She smiled slightly. "Would you believe I'm not plotting my escape? I think I'd like to be a homebody for a while." Being experimented on, by a dead guy, kinda meant she liked being home.
Then a sigh. "I'm fine. Really. Underweight, couldn't put Logan through a wall if I tried, but fine." She studied him for a moment. "What's up with you, Prof?"
A weary smirk. "Believe, no, not entirely. But certainly glad to hear. Just think - a bit longer and you will at least have free-reign of your house again. Of which, apologies for the state of things. We tried to clean a bit - mostly Franklin did - but it's been...a rough week." Put extremely lightly.
Onslaught almost payed Siren's Port a little visit.
He avoided her question. "I'm a little surprised Erik isn't cramming food down your throat."
Jubilee shrugged. "Can't expect a bunch of guys to keep the place spotless." She was teasing, mostly.
"I heard it was bad. But... no one's said how bad and Prof I've been an XMan for too long not to want to know." She wasn't going to let it go. Without Cyclops here, it was her job to keep track of everyone... when she wasn't kidnapped or in a lab somewhere.
She held up a sack of food that had been left. "He brings it by and lets me eat it on my own. Taking it slow on my stomach."
She crossed her arms as much as she was able. "Mags said something about a girl you knew being kidnapped by a cult. People are being remarkably closed-mouthed about things." She might be a little irritated about that. "They keep acting like this is the first time I've been kidnapped or something. Sorry to say, it's not even the fifth."
A pause. "Honestly, I don't want to say much because I can hear a familiar voice in the back of my head telling me 'Shut up Charles, don't say anything until she's recovered, unless you want to add to her list of problems' and 'Time and place.' But...yes. You went missing, there were a string of murders, a monster in the streets, and a message from the Core Cult. Put shortly."
Jubilee shook her head. "Jesus, when did this place become Westchester?" Seriously, that sounded like exactly the same type of shit that would happen to them back at the mansion. "Ya know, when I... left," got kicked out, "the last time, I thought I'd be okay to not, ya know, get caught up in things like that again."
She smiled crookedly. "Once an X-Man, always an X-Man."
He almost laughed. "You really would think, by now, these things would hardly phase me. Yet it is so much more real here. Raw, threatening. I can't explain it. I'm not sure I want to leave though. For all it's faults, this place has potential." He wasn't sure he could exactly explain why, or what he meant. He just had a feeling. Those always lead to something interesting
( ... )
Well, she didn't want to go back to their world. There wasn't anything left for her back there. She'd been kicked out and removed from the only place she wanted to be.
When he mentioned Scott and Logan, Jubilee immediately stiffened. For some reason it just shoved home what she'd lost back home.
She looked away from the Professor. "I doubt it. They'd be too busy with other things."
He frowned. Foolish. He hadn't meant to offend, or rip open wounds. He spoke softly. "You don't think we get what we need? I showed up, Remy showed up...perhaps a few others will join them. A little faith goes a long way."
He leaned back, face darkening a bit. "I confess, though, that I wouldn't really want to make a place for Scott here." Why was he sharing these things?
"Scott would just take over, try to convince everyone he knew best and immediately begin disparaging anything and everything that I've done here." Someone might be the tiniest bit bitter.
"And I don't want Logan here. He handles being held captive worse than I do." She shook her head. "Honestly? Ro, Piotr, maybe Kitty, Bobby... but Scott and Logan? No thanks."
