Don't get buried in its decay )
He wakes up on the ground. He's pretty sure he was in the air before. Head hurts bad. Raising a hand, he presses it to his forehead, hissing as he feels a sharp pain. When he pulls it away, his palm is red.
That's really not good. Red is bad. He attempts to get to his feet but a wave of dizziness and a sharp pain in his arm when he tries to use it prevent that.
Really not good.
Then he gets the message. Fumbling, he picks up the comm, voice fuzzy and confused.]
Hey?

[Sets the comm down then pushes himself up into a sitting position with his good arm, focusing more on his surroundings. Outside. Things are kind of chaotic. Makes sense with an explosion.
Looks down at his fingers and tries to move them, hissing in pain.] Ow, fuck. Yeah.
[Oh wait. Picks the comm back up.] Yeah, they move. A little. S'okay, I can heal it. Jusgotta cast spell. [That is, if his head would stop throbbing long enough for him to focus properly.]

Not with a head injury you aren't. [The motion was two fold, a thick trauma dressing cupped under his hand and applied to the bleeding wound and his other arm scooping Billy up, close to his chest. One breath, and faster than someone with normal reflexes can react, and Erik kicks into the air, alighting on a nearby building's roof, the first stable and semiprotected space he sees.]

[A random thought suddenly pops into his head.] You can't, like, see my brains, can you. 'Cause that's gross.

[Erik wasn't letting the boy go, although he did set them down, throwing a shield up. Erik was clearly in the debris at some point - he's covered in dust, and some blood.]
And yes, I can, if I look. Which I WILL be, so deal with the 'gross factor'. Unless you want to see yourself inside an MRI?
