Bursting from the dugout she sprinted to a makeshift barricade. The Paralyzer came out and she fired a snap-shot without aiming across the field. No sense shooting AT this guy just yet, but maybe a warning shot of bright blue plasma might make them back off.

The blackness of her clothing was to her advantage; Liquid couldn't read where the shot came from precisely enough to shoot her. A general direction was easy. Precise shots were not and he did not intend to waste his ammunition firing blindly into the dark like a rookie. Instead, he dropped low to minimise the target, heading in the vague direction the attack had come from.

Keeping low she scurried to another point of cover. Fire and move, it was one of the first things she had learned. Otherwise you tended to get shot the second time you fired.
Craning her head around the side, low to the ground, she scanned the field, looking for for her next shot.

Even Liquid wasn't quite rash enough to simply fire and draw the opponent's aim again. That was simple stupidity. He needed a way to draw them out. Crouching down lower, he fumbled in the ground to find a stone, throwing it in a random direction to see if the sound drew the enemy's attention.
It would have worked on the Genome Soldiers and they were intellectually enhanced.

Nothing. He must have moved as soon as he'd made the noise. This cat and mouse was always the worst part, it was almost a relief to come to grips with the enemy.

So there you are!
[Liquid's attention snapped towards the blast. Without thinking, he somersaulted over to where the light had come from, landing in a crouch precisely where the blast had hit. He raised the gun and fired a short burst in her direction, not bothering to aim precisely. If she was fast enough to dodge the range of the gun, precise aim was just a waste of time at this range.]

At this range an automatic weapon gave him the distinct advantage, and if she stayed crouched down here for too long, he'd just circle for a clear shot. Time to change the game.
Without breaking cover she fired four shots blind in Snake's general direction, hoping for just enough to earn a break in the fire. Stuffing the Paralyzer into it's holster she grabbed the concrete barricade with both hands and heaved wrenching it from the ground and sending it spinning in the same direction she'd fired.
Cybernetic strength was good for something after-all.

But the gunfire had stopped and now all she had to do was...wait. Experience pinged as she detected a form nearby, moving into close quarters. Alright, fine...if that's the way it was going to be.
Flipping and spinning the Paralyzer like a butterfly knife, Samus ignited the plasma blade with a signature snap-hiss, illuminating her in the growing darkness with a four-foot long blade of bright blue energy.

He muttered the words lowly, lowering the gun to rest around his neck on its strap. If he had to take on a woman with a glowing sword, so be it. From the looks of it, that sword could easily damage the gun - and the gun was far less replaceable than he was. Really, it would have been hardly fair - or fun - to simply shoot a blatant target like that. Even if she was like Gray Fox and could deflect bullets with her sword, that would have been a difficult match. Instead, he circled her, watching for an opening.

"Drop your weapon and surrender. No one's getting the Core today." She levelled the sword at him with an ominous hummmm.

Liquid himself didn't want or need to escape. Not yet. He needed to find a way to override the memory loss before he would dare. He simply said it because she was surely expecting it to be his motive. "At any rate, just because you know Snake doesn't mean I'm going to go easy on you."
Reply
"Just because you look like Snake doesn't mean -I'll- go easy on -you- either."

His weight shifted, his body entirely supported on one leg. "Well. No sense in complaining about finding a decent opponent," he mused, before throwing himself forward, aiming a heavy kick towards her face.

She wanted a shallow cut, no sense trying to kill this guy...not yet.
