He hung up the NV connection, at last having got hold of Jinx. His eyes stung still, trying to tell her what the hell had been going on was harder then he had thought. Telling her about the murder, the video, the police, to check the network, to be careful, that he was home and that he wasn't going anywhere and to BE CAREFUL. He told her everything he could tell her, everything but the fact that he had ran into Trauma's darkness the night before. She would have had a fit about that.
This weekend couldn't have been stranger. Everything seemed wrong.
Jinx said she would be home. They would talk in more detail and take care of things. His mind was running wild at first, at last able to hear that she was alright. He had no connection to her at all for days it seemed. The moment he saw her he was going to hug her; that was the first thought on his mind. He wasn't a hugging person but he even would admit to needing one right now. Trauma wasn't alive yet, he was home alone other then the haunted toaster Lutz and Apollo the cat. The apartment felt huge and empty and all he could think was Jinx being here would fix a lot. She was all he had left at the moment and she hadn't been anywhere in sight.
There would be no hugging though, not at all. Instead the apartment of emo was open, the front door cracked a few inches and open to the hall. The lights on this floor of the apartment complex were out, seeming much dimmer then normal. One might not see, at first, the streak of blood leaving the front door. Inside the apartment Thai food boxes sat open on the floor, though they were spilled and trampled in the struggle. In the end, the fact that the boy had actually ordered food to be delivered was the main reason the front door was unlocked. It was the main reason he didn't see the Miner come in. He had been concentrating on the video that was Trauma's death that he didn't see his own coming. Everything had got him by surprise.
There was blood everywhere in the living room space. The couch was soaked in it, the floor was slick in it. Slick meaning it barely had time to dry. This was fresh. The lamp by the couch was knocked over, shining a light on the wall, blood splatter dribbled down it clearly. The struggle couldn't have lasted long, knowing Claudio's ability; he had to have been taken by surprise.
In the phoen conversation before he had told Jinx everything he knew about Trauma's death. Where it was and when it had happened. He told her of the video and the blurred image. How large it seemed and how frightened Trauma of all people looked. One could imagination the same look on Claudio's face when he was brought to meet his murderer for the first time.
His body would not be found inside the apartment itself, nor would it be found in the apartment complex. No other places were bothered this night, just theirs. No, his body had been taken away, left in the same place that Trauma's body had been found the first night. The original crime scene had been cleaned up fairly well that morning; the bloody heart on the wall having been sand blasted off and washed away. The 'do not cross' tape had mostly been ripped away by local kids running off and playing with it. The street looked cleaned again. But only for a little while.
The young teens body lay slumped to the wall, broken, bloody and ripped apart, blood seeping out of his lifeless body and into the pavement. Like others he had a heart shaped box in his lap, his heart ripped out of his chest and placed in the box with morbid care. One could say he looked like the perfect macabre image of being brokenhearted. On the wall above him was another heart, once again painted on with the boys blood. Darkness monsters had been attracted to the smell of the boys blood though nothing too large had found it yet. A small greenish Ooze monster in the darkness had managed to creep its way up the body, slipping over his leg, an acid burning off the fabric and melting a bit of the flesh as it crept. It inched towards the heart shaped box slowly that night, enjoying it's meal before anything else found it.
