He'd have been startled if he was capable of being startled. Well, that and he could hear Ven's approach, and instead of jumping he leaned back and turned his head with a grin in return, noting that it was Ven and not Roxas; it was easy to confuse the two by voice, but when he saw them he could see the difference between them. A certain quality of expression, he thought.

"Hey there. Doing some shopping for your valentine?"

"I'm doing some shopping for Xion. She's a girl, so I guess that counts as getting into the spirit of things." Chewing meditatively on his pretzel, Axel watched a group of shoppers rush by lugging enormous bags. "Just figuring out sleeping arrangements for when we find someplace to live. Want some?" He offered Ven the pretzel, which was soft and chewy and pretty good for being overpriced.

"Nothing yet. I was just looking at furnishings. Gotta figure out sleeping arrangements." After Ven had taken his piece, Axel finished off the rest, then crumpled up the paper wrapping into a ball and tossed it overhand into the nearest garbage can. "It's looking like I can only afford one bedroom in one of the safer areas, but she can have it. I'm used to sleeping on couches." It wouldn't really bother him, even if it was his own place. Even after almost seven months, he still seemed to himself like more of a visitor to this world than an inhabitant.

"It's not a problem, really." Though he could almost appreciate the sentiment. He gave a stretch, then pushed off of the bench, turning around to face Ven as he stood. "I can't really care. And I've slept on couches since I've gotten here, so that's no big deal."
