[Riku comes home from being out in the dark after midnight, tired and aggravated. He runs a hand through his silver bangs, shoving them out of his eyes a little and immediately divesting himself of his coat. He locks up quickly and yawns, heading into the kitchen and flicking one of the lights on.]

Ebony, food.

[He sets some out for the cat and then turns on the little night light for the kitchen for her, turning off the main light so he can head away. He spots the TV on, his senses filling with a familiar smell as he rounds the corner on the couch-]

Hey.

[He wakes up to the sound of the door opening and closing, but doesn't see any need to get up from the couch; it'd mean having to move Winner anyway, who's draped contentedly over his legs, having eaten earlier. The TV's showing some informercial, and he watches disinterestedly while he waits for Riku to appear.]

Hey. [Glancing up, he raises a hand in greeting.] Thought I might as well take you up on it. It's no fun sleeping out in the rain.

[He glances down at him, reaching down to stroke Winner once. He quirks a brow.]

Did you really sleep out in the rain last night? [A pause.] Have you eaten?

I didn't sleep, no, but I was out.

[Doing what he often does when he's not working, fighting in the Darkness, throwing away all the thoughts that endlessly circle his mind and just losing himself to violence. But it was a risk the night before; it's been too long since he slept, and the strain showed on him.

Lack of food doesn't help either.] I could eat.

[He can see some of the fatigue, but he's sure Axel's hiding some of it. He nods, taking off his vest and tossing it on the armchair nearby. Ebony slips by from Riku's bedroom, heading to the kitchen; her master follows suit.]

Anything in particular I can make for you?

[The light goes back on in the kitchen.]

Oh, I'm not picky. Whatever you have. [Winner jumps down from his legs and heads into the kitchen as well, curious. Once they're all out of sight Axel lets himself almost doze again, but he can't really fall asleep. It doesn't work when your thoughts are this heavy.]

Where were you? Fighting Darkness monsters?

[He looks in the fridge and decides it might be better to just make something fresh. He takes out some of the chicken he has, chopping it up into little cubes and tossing some oil into a pan to fry them up quickly. He gets out some of the noodles he got from the Asian Market as well and a few vegetables.]

Out dealing with Ansem's new pets.

[There's a quiet anger in his voice, tired.]

[He hears the anger, even from a room away, and it makes him smile with weary amusement.] I guess we should have expected it once he appeared. You know he'll just make more, Riku. He could probably overrun the city if he put his mind to it, night and day.

((gotta sleep, will tag in the morning! o/))

Regardless of whether he can or not, he can't be allowed to have too many. This world will dip further into the dark if he can't be monitored and controlled.

He won't be controlled. You heard him, didn't you? He's after Kingdom Hearts again. [Really, what was that man's (and all his incarnation's) obsession with Kingdom Hearts?

Axel gets up finally, restless, and comes into the kitchen to watch Riku cook.]

Kingdom Hearts doesn't exist here. He'd need to find the heart of the world and he'd need a Keybearer to do it. Besides...

[He flips the small chicken cubes over, then continues chopping the rest.] The heart of the world may very well be the Core itself. Get too close, and you die of radiation poisoning.

You should know better than to underestimate him. Better than anyone else, right? He'll use you and any other Keyblade if he can.

[He pokes a little around the kitchen, inquisitive.] What do you have to drink?

That's just it. He can't get a host unless they have darkness in their hearts that he can steep himself in. His only option is me or Joe, and Joe's the one I'm worried about.

[Xehanort can't possess himself, after all.]

Soda, milk, water, juice... I might have some hard lemonade in there.

Good luck chasing after Joe, then. [Not like he has any reason to care, unless he endangers Roxas...or any other friend.]

Perfect. [He finds the lemonade, a couple of bottles' worth; he's not what anyone could call a good influence, after all.]

Gee, thanks. [The noodles are tossed in once he thinks the chicken's soaked up enough of the oil to be a little crispy. The vegetables will wait.]

You're into alcohol?

He's not my responsibility.

[Chuckles] I work at two nightclubs, what do you think? Are you?
