It was a decent walk from his new place in Sector 4 to the baseball diamond where the new arrivals always landed, and Kazuma had walked it at a decently fast pace. He wasn't running, though he wanted to, but he wanted even less to freak the poor girl out by showing up panting and exhausted. They had to beat the clock, though, because if those sirens went off...

He didn't want to think about that.

He made it to the diamond, walking past the greeters with an annoyed grunt. She was the only person in the actual area, and though he didn't know what the girl looked like it was easy to figure out who Nadeko was.

She opened her eyes after a few moments, lifting her head a little bit and looking around again for any sign of the boy who had contacted her. She spotted a figure coming in her direction, and her eyes widened a little. The thought crossed her mind to call out to him, but as she opened her mouth to do just that, she realized she didn't know his name.

So Nadeko stayed where she was, as per his request, just waiting for him to get close enough.

Kazuma picked up his pace as he entered, hands stuffed in the pockets of his jacket and breath pluming in cold clouds in front of him. His laptop bag was around his shoulder, laptop inside as it also acted as his NV.

"Hey..." he said once he got close enough, "You're the new girl, right?"

Nadeko looked at him and nodded a little, flipping her phone closed and putting it into her pocket. Now free of the phone, she realized just how hard she'd been holding it; her knuckles ached, whereas they hadn't before.

"T-Thank you," she said quietly, "For coming here." She was still trembling a little, but other than that, she was maintaining some sort of calm outward appearance.

She tried to take a step, and found that despite being somewhat comfortable with standing now, her muscles were screaming at her as she stepped forward. It was almost enough to make her knees buckle under her, but she held tough and maintained a standing position. Like with standing, she'd have to get used to walking while feeling like this, it seemed. She sucked in a breath and let it out slowly.

This was going to be awkward.

Kazuma made a worried face, glancing at his watch again. The sun was already sinking past the horizon, but he had no idea just how much longer it would be before the sirens.

"We have to hurry," he said, trying hard to not sound impatient with her, "I'll explain later."

He moved closer to her, hesitating before putting an arm under her, guiding her to start walking with his help towards the exit.

"Sorry..."

If she was confused before, she was even more confused now. But he was nice enough to help her ... and he didn't seem like he would lead her in the wrong direction. He said he would explain later, so she nodded and allowed him to guide her. After she took a few steps she realized it was getting easier to move, especially with his help.

"This helps," she said quietly, "Thank you again."

They left the baseball diamond easily, but that left where to go after that. She would have a starter apartment just like everyone else, but the last thing he wanted to do was leave a scared person he'd just taken the time to help alone.

"... come on, I think we can make it to my place," he said after a moment of deciding, turning to head to Sector 4.

"I-If I knew where we were, I could point in the direction of my house," she said quietly. Nothing seemed familiar, though. She had absolutely no idea where she was, and no way to even begin trying to figure out any answers to questions she had about her current location. Well, except for the boy helping her, but he was doing so much already.

"Do you have a working phone? I tried to call my Mom, but my phone wouldn't call her for some reason ..."

"Trust me, you're not going to find your house," Kazuma said quietly as he kept them walking. The faster they moved, the closer they'd get to safety. "You're from Japan?"

"Mhm," she responded in kind, biting her lip again as she received that news. She wasn't going to find her house? What? Just where was she? How far had she gone out?

"You are, too," she said. It was more of a statement than a question.

"Yeah. This isn't Japan, it's Canada," Kazuma said, sounding rushed as he picked up his pace, hoping Nadeko would be able to keep up with his help.

Nadeko nearly choked on her own breath as she heard that, eyes widening again and head turning to look at him.

"C-Canada?!" she squeaked. She swore her heartbeat quickened. An entirely new set of fear was taking over.

T-That has to be a joke ...

Another look at his watch earned a sharp swear, feet picking up in to a run. He pulled away from her, only to take her hand and practically drag her along. He glanced over his shoulder several times, watching as the darkness began to slip over the city.

"No sirens no sirens please no sirens..."

Other than another squeak and nearly tripping over her own feet, Nadeko held onto his hand tightly as he led her onward, still very much confused, and finding herself becoming more terrified as it began to get dark.

The boy leading her seemed nervous, and that was doing nothing to make her feel better ... still, she tried to keep calm and just follow him. He was her only lead into what was really going on here.

They were still some distance away from his apartment, and as much as he didn't want to panic the thought of being stuck out in the darkness was making his chest tight. He just kept running, saying nothing to Nadeko as he dragged her along.

It was probably best that he didn't say anything more to her at the moment. Anything he were to say might have just served to make Nadeko more afraid than she already was, and right now, they needed to get inside. Nadeko didn't have to be here for very long to see how the boy was reacting to the oncoming darkness and know that there was something very, very wrong with it.
